					| ^I agree, Kemi. To me, it sounded like a concept that could be used in Christianity (my religion)--we have a lot of mystical poems --but make no mistake, i mean that in a very complementary way. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. If you want to know why it reminded me of that, you could pm me and I'll tell you. By the way, can I join? It's a rare day that I'm not in the process of writing some poem or other (which I'll post when I have time ). I compose like there's no tomorrow! _________________ Avi and banner by ForeverFrodo. Words on banner by me. Proud Frolass Resident Elvengoth

					| I kinda like it, never been too good at it(I might try it out here) and my countries national epic forms out of poems...
For example this small part as Kullervo goes to war against his fathers killer.

 "No, I will not go and hide;
No, this bad one will not run:
I will go to the mouth of death,
To the dark door of the grave,
 To the bloody battlefields,
To the killing grounds of war-men -
 Untamoinen still stands upright,
 Traitorous hind as yet unconquered;
 Unavenged my father's wounds,
 Unrepaid my mother's tears

The poems were gathered from persons that had passed them onwards, but these days there are no true persons whom would remember them all.
_________________ Let him curse my name
On these blood stained pages of misery
Let him call me a tyrant so cruel
Let him curse my name, but remember the truth!

					| Seeing as that's the case, I think I'll post something and hopefully revive this club. Here's one about the Grey Havens, both at the end of rotk, and...later. Frodo
 Soft to the West--
 Like a lullaby
 In a child's rest--
 Sweet blows the wind,
 Soothing tears you cry
 At our journey's end:
 Watch the Sea
 Turn to beckoning gold:
 Smile for me--
In my heart thine I hold.
With West-bound tide and East-borne wind,
The sails fill, the moorings bend--
Bright-heaven's wings my soul they lend,
Yet to Earth I look, to my dearest friend.
 Sam
 Light as a dove,
 I will soar to you
 On wings of love:
 Sweetest command--
 More than all I knew,
 Came friendship's hand.
 Call to me--
I will hear you in dreams!--
 To cross the Sea,
 When the Lonely Star gleams:
Only call me in the pathless night--
 Frodo
I'll be haven to my bird's last flight:
 Sam
In my tears there glimmers starry white--
 Frodo
Don't weep, my friend--I seek the Light!
Long afterward Frodo
 Long did you love
 She that flew away--
 A snow-white dove:
 Hear my command--
 Come beyond the spray,
 And take my hand:
 Look to Sea--
 Time has set your release!--
 Soar to me,
 Finding joy born of peace.
 Sam
My grief is dark when Light is done--
 Frodo
Seek out the Road with Dawn begun!--
 Sam
Unto your voice I'll gladly run--
 Frodo
You fill my heart, sweet golden Sun!_________________ Avi and banner by ForeverFrodo. Words on banner by me. Proud Frolass Resident Elvengoth

					| This poem is called Lothlórien (at the End of the 4th Age) Silence
 Only birds disrupt the silence
 Night
We only have the moon for little guidance
 Silence
Not a deathly silence, but of life
 Water
Guarantees us life, but also death
 Silence
Lulling silence, making you forget the dangers
 Hope
A thing you gather here along the way
 Silence
Helping you relax and find your centre
 Rest
Showing what to do, how to go on
 Silence
Element of Light, of Dark, of Slumber
 Mirror
Showing you what is, what was and will be
 Silence
Takes the place of ancient, deceased gaiety
 Elves
Welcomed you to rest and peace and hope
 Silence
 Welcoming and yet somehow repulsive
 Cobwebs
Take the place of former present light
 Silence
The Age of Elves is past
 Away
From the Grey Havens they sailed to join their kin
 Galadriel
Travelled far away Lady of Adamant
And in Lothlórien now presides just
 Silence
(Thanks for the comliment of my sig )_________________ I may not be perfect but at least I'm Welsh.

					| Hi! Can I join? I took a poetry class a year ago and enjoyed it. I love editing poems and such, it's a weird thing I like to do....strange I know...
At my school I won a prize for editor's choice poetry in our school literary book....So I got my poem published on the first page, and here is the poem :
 Tibet
 Secluded in the mountains
of Tibet, an orange clad monk
 drifts through stone halls.
 Incense of exotic flowers
 wafts in the air,
 disclosing secrets of eternity.
 Colossal gongs
 reverberate in hidden
 valley passes.
 A goat herder lifts
 his head in recognition.
 I descend the stone steps
 of the moss covered temple
 into a garden.
 Pale pink blossoms
 peek from beneath
 Sheltering leaves.
 My steps are muffled
 by emerald grass
 blanketing the ground
 before me.
 In my path ahead,
 a monk kneels beneath
 a vast tree. The gnarled
 branches form a protective
 shelter around him.
 Monks in ginger robes
 appear like marble statues,
 meditating beneath
 trees. An eternity passes.
 Wind from the east
 rustles the leaves.
 A single leaf breaks free
 from a constricting branch
 and drifts to the earth.
 When the gong echoes again,
 I watch the monks
 rise in unison
 and enter the temple
 their heads bowed.
Ah yes, there it is....Hmm...it's kind of weird to read it again, because I haven't read it in awhile

					| ^I like that. My mom visited Tibet at least once, so although I've only ever heard about it (as opposed to going there myself), it's kind of nostalgic. Forever: Thank you. *blushes* I've written loads about the Grey Havens, so I guess I have practice. That and Mount Doom are two of my biggest lotr poetry topics.
 Arawn: You're welcome!
I wrote one about Lothlorien too, awhile back.
Bright is air and blossoming bough
Where the leaves are wrought of singing gold.
All remembered of then is now,
And the forest lovely to behold.
Amidst lights in the Elvish city fair
On silver trunk and golden wing
The Lord and Lady in bright hall dwell there
And like the golden rain Elves sing
Wise and fair as the setting sun
 	Queen Galadriel of the Elven-ring
 	High Celeborn of Lothlorien
A great Lord and an Elven-king
 	Bittersweet is this coming day
 	When setting is Lothlorien's star
Much that is fair must soon pass away
And the Elves must journey to lands afar
Still Nimrodel flows sweet and clear
By bough of gold and trunk of grey
But long have the Elves known their hour was near,
And to the West have long since sailed away._________________ Avi and banner by ForeverFrodo. Words on banner by me. Proud Frolass Resident Elvengoth

					| A poem for J.R.R. Tolkien I wrote some time ago. It's not very good, because it's still a bit hard for me to write poems in English.
 For all you have written
For all the stories you told
 I want to thank you
 For the worlds you created
Worlds, unlike our one will ever be
 I want to thank you
For the beauty you gave us
 Beauty beyond words
 I want to thank you
 I wish I could express
what your books mean to me
I wish I had met you once
 Thank you
 Mr Tolkien
I'm not sure if the grammar is correct Eariel, I'd love to read one of your poems about Mount Doom. You're so talented!_________________ <center>
