Pandora listened to Gandalf and Gwenneth as Elegost got his shot in and succesfully attatched the rope to the other tree across the river.

She walked over to Gwen, Eru, and Gandalf and smiled. "We can do this Gwen, look how far we have come already." She smiled and held out her hand to help them up.

"Elegost got the rope all ready, we can begin making our way across he river." Pandora explained as they walked over to the group of people awaiting the time when they would go across, Gandalf in the back with a warm smile.

[I just thought I would hurry things along and say that we are all set to go across so that we can be in Rivendell tomorrow....]

Elenriel stood off to the side practicing with the bow, irritated that she could never get it to go more than a few feet. “You are not drawing back far enough.” Legolas replied, walking up to her. “What?” “Here.” he responded, as he reattached the arrow, she let drop. “On my instruction, release the arrow.” Elenriel nodded as he corrected her form. “Release it.” On his command, she shot the arrow, sending it straight into the pass, farther than she had done before. “See?” he replied, a smirk on his face. “Alright. I give up. You win.” Legolas gave a slight chuckle as he shook his head in amusement. “Do you remember how the position felt?” Elenriel nodded. “I think so. But upon being attacked, I’ll probably forget your good instruction.” she said wryly. “Then we had best continue our journey. Rivendell is less than a day away.”

Gwenneth smiled at Pandora, and accepted a hand up. She awaited her turn to haul herself across the rope, wondering if the others only made it look easy.

Suddenly, it seemed, they were all standing on the other side of the river, grinning with saticfaction.
"Whew," said Gwenneth, shifting her weight to one leg as the rope was being retrieved.
"Rivendell is close now indeed," Gandalf's eyes were alight.
Without thinking, Gwenneth began smoothing out her traveling dress, and feeling out her hair. She wanted to make a good impression upon the Elves, but was feeling very lowly.

Madoc stared in amazement. "im in... Rivendell... this is amazing!" He stares out in the area, awed in the elven constructions.

Luthien rode quietly. Her earlier excitement had settled down, and the calm Elven wood seemed almost too peaceful to break with talking. Finally, though, she had to say something. "So, how did you all end up here? I was just on AU, then walked through my bedroom door, and I was in Lothlorien."

FaZ laughed when he mentioned his first meeting with Curu, and their adventures in Moria. Then, after a while, he said: "I was in a cave with my friends. Suddenly, I heard a strange voice singing something about juicy fish, so i decided to come closer. And... that was... Gollum. Sadly, when he heard my voice, he ran away. And then... i got lost and landed near Balin's tomb. Pretty strange story, eh?" He looked at his companions' faces. They seemed to be quite scared, so he decided not to tell them the whole story, especially the part about Balrog. He grinned to Curunir.

[OOC: one question, are we going to Rivendell through Moria again? Cause i dunno :)]

( sorry Noc, but we have to make a timejump, or else we will never be in Rivendell today :P)
Lhunardaien and Nocturne had been riding all the day, and had made their camp on Weathertop. In the early morning, just befor sunrise, they had decided to go on with the road again, so they would reach Rivendell by night. After a few hours of riding, Lhunardaien noticed a wood, and when they came nearer, she thought that she recognized it, and she took the map of Middle-Earth in mind. ' This must be the Wood of those Trolls, don't you think so Nocturne? If it is, we don't have a very long way to go anymore.'

"I was climbing a tree and fell" Elenwe said to them, waiting for the comments like "what were you doing up a tree?" "But I just kept on falling down and down until fell into Lorien. Then I walked to where I knew Galadriel and Celeborn would be and spoke to Galadriel who told me to come this way." Elenwe paused it wasn't as interesting as the others' stories.

[Ok, I'd like to join. I would have done so earlier, but I took the trouble to read the entire thread, and in amongst everything else, it took me several days :P
And I think I shall try to get to Rivendell in as close to one post as possible. Meet you all there :D ]

Darrell was glad that it was the weekend. A couple of days without exams, such a relief. he spent much of the morning wandering around the A-U forums, but eventually tired of doing so. Looking out the window at the warm, bright sunlight he considered going for a walk.

Both his parents were out with his sisters, so he wrote a note in case they came back before he finished his walk. He set off up his road, towards a small bit of woodland, and going over the stile, began the steep, but short ascent through the woodland, to the farmland beyond. He kept his head down on the way up, but something just alongside the path caught his eye. He smiled and picked up the likely looking stick. It was reasonably straight, and about the right length (right length being about swords length :D ), and he swung it experimentally. Well balanced he thought, but does it meet the quality test?

The test in question is quite simple, it just invovles whacking the stick hard into the ground, which is of course what Darrell proceded to do. Stick was robust, and not rotten, and therefore stayed whole, and bounced succesfully off the ground. Good, now time for some fun he checked around to make sure no one was going to get in his way and immediately headed straight into a make believe battle. well, there's nothing quite like fighting off a couple of hundred imaginary orcs single handed is there?

Continuing his battle up the slope (leaving an imaginary trail of imaginary orc corpses behind him) he emerged from the woods. And stopped his battle mid slash.

What startled him out of his make believe fight, was the hugs difference in what he saw, to what he had expected to see up leaving the woodland. Before him was not an open field surrounded by hedges, but a continuing slope that went up a very long way. To the height of a mountain. looking to his right he saw a landscape he was familiar with. But not using his eyes to see. It was a view he had imagined many times, and often wanted to see in person, but knew he never could. Or so he thought. For below him, a long way down, was a town. A small town, but an elegant, well crafted one. It was set on the edge of a long lake, and in the distance, beyond the lake, was the beginnings of a vast forest.

Much as it suprised him, he knew instinctively almost exactly where he was, though he thought it was impossible. For below him was Erebor, and the Long Lake, with the town of Dale on its shores. Well, this is a turn up for the books. I've always wanted to come here, so if I actually am here, I may as well do some exploring. And there are really orcs in middle-earth, so just in case I come across some I should get some practice in And with that he resumed his fight with the imaginary orcs, heading downhill towards the town of Dale.

After a good hours walking, and about three hundred orcs later he was almost down on level with the town, and the lake. In fact he was just polishing off the last orc when a boy about his age leapt out from behind a bush and parried his slash at the last 'orc' with a wooden practice sword. the boy gave an unreadable smile - It was hard to tell if he had any malicious intent - and swung his 'sword around, in a slash towards Darrell's waist. Instinctively Darrell blocked it, and mounted a counter attack. They fought on for about ten minutes, until Darrell's stick broke under the strain of the blows. The other boy then put up his sword.
" I did not expect one so strangely attired or poorly equipped to fight so well" the boy said with a smile, "Where do you hail from?"
"I did not expect my stick to hold out that long" Darrell muttered "shame it's broken, 'cos it was a good one." This caused the boy to smile and Darrell answered his question. " I am from a far distant land known as England, and my name is Darrell. May I ask the name of he who broke my trusty stick?"
"My name is Cian. Is it customary for people to dress as you do in your land?"
"Yes, though I should like some for fitting clothing for this land"
The boy grinned " That is easily done. My father is a tailor, he can outfit you with something that shall stand out less. Follow me."
and wityh that he lead Darrell into Dale to his father shop where they found him a gambeson, and a pair of trousers, along with a pair boots. They also went down to the black smiths who gave Darrell a sword.( http://www.swordsofhonor.com/menmedclot.html this picture at the top of the page shows the gambeson and trousers, expect darrell's are a dark green. Darrell's boots are similar to standard hiking boots on earth :D The sword in this picture is also the blade Darrell was given)

Darrell spent several days wandering the town and the lands around, but with there being so much more to see he bid good bye to Cian and headed out in the direction of the Old Forest Road through Mirkwood towards the Misty Mountains and Rivendell.

[Apologies for the length. I would have made it longer still, but I'm being kicked off the comp so I can't get to Rivendell in one post. And congratulations if you read that the who way through :D]

(*mutters* If it happens too often, I'm not staying, it's not very fun to "tag along". We're in Rivendell anyway, so maybe a fresh start will help..... I didn't ignore you, Eru, I offered to get your horse across but my post was.... lost to the crowd)

Idril firmly took the reins of Eru's mare, unsaddling her but leaving the bridle on. With a swift swing, she was astride the mare and urged the timid horse into the water, up stream from the rope, so if she fell, she would have something to catch onto. Her own mare, Princess, she had on a lead line, and the horse eagerly took to the water, acting as support for the less experianced horse.

After battling the horse's resistance to move forward, and the water which raged to come above her knees even though the horse was tall, Idril made it halfway, giving a slightly satisfied smile.

Just then the stable horse must have felt something against its leg, for in the next moment, Idril found herself rolled and dropped into the water. Spluttering, she grasped the rope as she drifted down stream, and pulled herself ashore, soaked from head to toe and looking rather embarrassed at the blunder.

Meanwhile Princess took it upon herself to show the other horse the way to shore, and both were soon standing on the safety of ground and shaking the water off themselves. Idril muttered inaudibly, shaking her head. "They made it back before me, the little rats..." A few more words were muttered as she chuckled dryly to herself, stepping over to take Princess' reins, shivering and shaking water from her own hair.

Madoc smiles as he walks through rivendell going through the smithies and training grounds, until he found the archery range. "hmm... i always wanted to see how good of a shot i am..." he picks up a small bow and tests it string then found some arrows and started to practice with the bow.

Melda was one of the last to cross the two ropes over the river Bruinen. She shut her eyes for a minute and took a deep breath before gripping the ropes so tightly her nails dug into her hands. She probably kept her eyes shut half the time while crossing and she was shaking slightly by the time her feet hit the ground on the other side. Mel gave a wobbly grin and hastily sat down.

A few minutes later, while others were still crossing, she climbed to the top of a small hill and looked down. There it was - The Last Homely House, in a valley far below. She smiled. "I never dreamed I'd see it firsthand..." she murmured. "I can't wait to get down there!"

(sorry Idril, cordless mouse ran out on batteries and I missed that post! *kills mouse*... any way...)

Erura stood up and watched Idril get Chyanne across the water. Eru was the last one to cross. "Thanks Idril," she said...

Once Rivendel was in sight, eruraina gasped. "wow" she said, eyes widening. "It's more beautiful then I ever imagined..."

It took some time of traveling, but Ellethwen finally reached Rivendell. She was amazed by everything, especially the buildings, wondering how they would be in the winter, they were so open-work.
