I know this question sounds stupid, but does a modern bow work like a normal one? I mean, does one hold it the same way etc.?? They look so complicated and uncomfortable!!

what do you mean 'modern' and 'normal'?

overall they work pretty much the same way, though if yours doesnt have all those extra little details ((sights, stabilizer, pulley, cable)) then it'll be way easier ... and yeah ... if it's a bow, then you have to hold it like one!, which is like the same way you hold all other bows...
err..
meaning .... you hold bows the same way, overall. And if it's uncomfortable, maybe you just need some time to get used to it ;)

I think it's different types of bows.

And Haldir, with normal I meant bows like Legolas' etc. The modern ones are the ones I've seen in use in competitions and stuff.

Well, yes, they have that whole pully system and such. But Legolas bows look a lot cooler, more war like and more fantasy.
