Psst...Dark...We're all in Rivendell now, here's what's going on...
A-U Moderators wrote: Okay. The mods have been discussing this and have decided that we have a GOOD PROBLEM: It's still moving soooo fast, it's hard to keep track of the RPG. It's too fast to know what's what and keep up and know what you should post unless you're on all the time. For this and other reasons, we have unanimously decided: 1 RPG post in 24 hours per person. Make the RPG post as long as you like. If you have something else to say, go back and edit it. Tulk and Miremiel have had success with this in their RPG forum, and we believe it will make this RPG more accessible and friendly to all AU members. --------------------------------------------------------- As the last glimmer of sunlight fades from the western sky, a low, clear bell sounds summoning all to the council. The Elven musicians continue to play. In the council chamber the sound of singing and laughter can be heard faintly, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Lord Elrond, however, as kind as summer though he may be, does not wear such a pleasant expression on his face. As the adventurers come into the chamber and are direct to their seats, they notice a shadow crossing his face, which seems to deepen as time wears on.
"Look at the Eyebrowlord!" One adventurer comments.
"You have my sword, Sir," another young man says as he enters the chamber and bows to Elrond.
Elrond, however, simply nods at him, seemingly preoccupied. Finally, when all the Elven lords, the adventurers' guides, and all but one of the adventurers is seated, a tall blond elf, seated next to Elrond, stands.
Glorfindel: "Strangers and guests in the house of the Lord Elrond, friends from distant lands, and my lords, you have been summoned here by the will of the Lord Elrond. There have been strange rumors whispered abroad, whispers of a nameless fear, of a threat so great that it would destroy Middle-Earth as we know it."
He pauses, apparently for effect. Then suddenly he begins to speak again, seemingly endlessly...a monologue, if truth must be told. Some of his audience seems to fade, others start to talk among themselves. A couple of the adventurers manage to catch on to the fact that in the midst of all these rumors, people---they, themselves!---suddenly began appearing out of nowhere, all over Middle-Earth, and all...
Elrohir (Elrond's son!): Unfortunately for you, the evidence only points towards you. Just as the news is noised abroad that the powers in the East are stirring, YOU appear. Are you spies?
Okay, here's the deal. You may try to prove you are not spies, you may all gang up and convince him you are not spies, you could have Galadriel's voice speak up in your behalf, whatever. Essentially, continue the council. One of you will have to arrive late. In the middle. When each of you've posted 1x, the mods will reveal your mission-quest-thing.

Luthien was more nervous than she had ever felt before. Perhaps coming here wasn't the best idea. Spies! Elrond thought they were spies! How on earth could she prove that she was not a spy for the Dark Lord? The others spoke in turn, some more convincing than others. Soon all attention would be on her...She closed her eyes and whispered-"Galadriel!"
"I am here" Luth's eyes flicked open. Galadriel? Here? She looked around, but no one seemed to pay any attention, they simply continued to listen to Elenwe.
"I speak only to you, child." The voice again! In her head, just like in FotR in Lothlorien. Without hesitating anymore, she thought; "My lady, what am I to do? Did you send me here only to be called a spy?"
"Of course not. Look to your pocket." Luthien reached into her dress pocket (very efficient, these Elvish dresses), and pulled out a letter. "Give this to Elrond, my words shall free you from doubt."
Luthien thanked Galadriel, and when Elenwe finished, she stood as confidently as possible. "My Lord Elrond, people of the council. I wish to present to you a letter in the writing of the Lady Galadriel herself. In the fair woods of Lorien she met me, and many others, and I hope that her words will abate any fear you have about our loyalty." She walked over to Elrond and placed the letter in his hand.
He opened it and read, his eyebrows furrowed characteristically. Finally, he looked up, "It appears you have made quite the impression. The Ladies Luthien, Elenwe, Lothwen, and Larael, and the Lords Sharku and FaZiovsky have the favour of Queen Galadriel. I welcome you as friends to this Council."
Smiling and relieved, Luth sat down and squeezed FaZ's hand. She "thought" her thanks to Galadriel, and even though there was no reply, she knew her words were heard.

Melda hurried down a hallway in the midst of Rivendell, chewing her bottom lip fiercely. She turned a corner, confused, and finally summoned up the courage to timidly ask an elf, "Could you tell me where to find the Council?" she looked at the ground, embarassed to have gotten lost, but the elf laughed a bell-like laugh and gave her exact instructions.
Melda practically ran all the way, and arrived just in time to hear Elrond say "...have the favour of Queen Galadriel. I welcome you as friends to this Council." She stopped outside the doorway with a sinking heart. Oh no, they've already started... she gulped and took a few shy steps in, hoping that Elrond would overlook her tardiness and wondering what he was saying to them all.

[I'd love to be able to that Meldawen, but I started this late, and so haven't actually reached Rivendell yet, as I should have done. Sorry and all that, but I can't help, or change, that fact ]
(And now I'll cut back to my storyline. I'm doing my utmost to get up with the story, but I'm only allowed on here for so long everyday)
Just as the warg started forward a sharp screeching noise sounded above Darrell's head. The warg turned and retreated back into the forest, and a large golden eagle landed where the warg had been. Darrell held his weapon higher, hoping he wouldn't have to fight this new threat (fear has made him forget that the Eagles are good) And then the eagle spoke to him, which knocked him off balance slightly
"You can put up your weapon, I shall not harm you. I have come to bear you to Imladris, where others like you have gathered" gathering his wits Darrell, and sheathing his sword replied shakily,
"o...others like me? There are others? And what do you mean 'bear me', I'm going there anyway"
"You shall find out all you need there. Hold your hands up" and without further words the eagle swooped forwards a gripped Darrell's wrists, lifting him off the ground, giving him not time to struggle.
After several hours winging across the Anduin vale and up though a pass in the Misty Mountains they had covered a distance it would have Darrell many days to cover on foot. Suddenly the whole of Eriador opened up infront of him as the mountains dropped to foothills.
The eagle winged lower and began circling a valley, which, as Darrell got nearer, was the lengendary elf haven of Imladris. The eagle swung in to the front gate, dropping Darrell lightly on the floor and winged off stright away, leaving Darrell slightly at a loss for what to do next.
Darrell walked tentatively through the gate into the courtyard where he was spotted by an elf.
"Aren't you supposed to be at the council?"
"What council? I've only just arrived!" Darrell reply looking more than slightly confused. His journey had been long, even with the help from the eagle. He was feeling dirty, and his clothing was looking a little worse for were after sleeping rough in Mirkwood for several days, his wrists were sore where the eagle had been holding them, he was hungry, and tired and really, in a very hobbittish way just wanted a bath, food, and bed. Still the elf did not know this, and whilst he noticed the slightly bedraggled appearance of the newly arrived guest, he was not pyschic. And besides the strange humans had been requested to go to talk with Elrond, and that is what the Elf acted on.
"Follow me. There are others like you who no doubt would like to see" and he lead Darrell to the council.
Darrell Has belatedly reached Rivendell
(Well, I'm there now, long as it took me. For those of you who have forgotten these are the clothes I picked up in Dale, but in dark green, rather than red, and now slightly muddied. And I'm wearing different boots. http://www.swordsofhonor.com/menmedclot.html And I hope me being so far behind has ruined anything.)

FaZ listened to Luthien's oration. When she sat down, FaZ whispered. "You are amazing! Now i know why did I "marry" you!". He looked at Elrohir's face. He smiled to FaZiovsky in a friendly manner. "Hope they will treat us friendly after that."

(I think I'll rejoin.... if you all don't mind having me back I hope I can now keep up.)
Having arrived slightly late to the council, since she had been looking after the horses, Idril fidgeted slightly in her chair, uncomfortable under the glaring brows of Elrond. They might have looked humorous in the movie, but all of the sudden she realized how uncomfortable that gaze could be. "No wonder why poor Frodo looked so nervous. Eeesh, it's like my Dad looking at me when I’m in trouble.... uh.... does he read thoughts?" At this sudden idea she tried desperate to keep thoughts from rumbling through her mind but her efforts were futile.
After a moment she stood to her feet, wringing her hands at first and looking strange in men's clothing, being a lady. Her chestnut hair was pulled into elf fashion, tied with a hairtie she had found in her pocket. "Milord.... when I first came, I was pursued by a Dark Rider, and by all that is good, I honestly swear I would wish nothing to do with that side let alone be an accursed spy for them! I would beg the Lord Aragorn to vouch for me on this, for he was there and witnessed the.... er two rider's unseat me from my saddle and attempt to chase me down...."
At this, the questioning gaze was turned towards Aragorn and the ranger nodded firmly in acknowledge to what Idril had said. She breathed a sigh of relief and sat down, only to stand again with a yelp as she realized a cocklebur had found its way onto her seat, most likely having clung to her after she had brushed Princess' mane and tale.
Dead silence and blank stares were given at the sudden outburst and she grinned sheepishly, tossing aside the bur and mumbling under her breath. "Sorry, cocklebur.... must've been there from the cattle pasture..." She sat down again, sinking low in the chair, almost wishing it would swallow her at that moment, though she had to admit, the situation would've been funny if these elves would stop being so darn serious and developed a sense of humor....

Ellethwen crept in, and winced when she saw the look on Elrond's face. "Sorry...sleeping. I suppose I should tell you how I got here?" There were slow nods from the others.
"I...was just putting my clarinet away in the band room...I don't know how I got here! All I have is some oddly far-fetched idea concerning 3 books, one of which I'm sure you don't want to see." Which was the truth, but everyone was staring at her.
"Ahhh...that is..." she mumbled, "I'm definately not a spy. Do I look like one? I run into glass doors, I forget things so incredibly easy it would be worthless to send me as a spy!"

It's okay to post OOC if it's not just starting a chat back and forth. If it's something you need to communicate about the RPG, it's okay.
Sorry for the delay, folks; the post limit is still being discussed, actually, and was holding this back. If you have something to say about 1 vs. 2 posts in 24 hours, pro or con, please PM the mod account soon because we need to know your thoughts. We were concerned about a) keeping track and b) keeping it easy-to-read so newcomers would feel welcome. We understand the need to interact, though.
Suddenly a voice rings out, sounding rather familiar to the adventurers.
"The world has changed, Lord Elrond. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it. "
Lord Elrond the Eyebrowlord sighs, and looks grimly at everyone. "Your coming to us is as the footsteps of doom!" he tells the adventurers. "This world once belonged to all the free peoples, but our time is almost over. Yet something stirs in the East, but what it may be we do not know."
The disembodied voice of Galadriel grows and fills the chamber. "We preceive you are not spies, yet have no knowledge of why you have been brought from some other place in this, the hour of need. Will you leave us and the men of Westerness to their fates, and let us stand alone?"
Elrohir stands and begins chanting in a low voice:
Amroth beheld the fading shore Now low beyond the swell, And cursed the faithless ship that bore Him far from Nimrodel. From helm to sea they saw him leap, As arrow from the string, And dive into the water deep, As mew upon the wing. But from the West has come no word, And on the Hither Shore No tidings Elven-folk have heard Of Amroth evermore.
Some of Amroth's and Nimrodel's decendants are said to have married into the noble family of Dol Amroth in Southernmost Gondor. This may be so, but we also suspect that the two did come together and journeyed further East, beyond the borders of the Black Lands, past the edges of all charted lands. In time they may have met up with some of the survivors of the wreckage of Numenor, of which three groups were believed to have survived, and only two are known to us in Middle-Earth: the Dunedain of the North and South (Gondorians), and the Haradrim of the far South. The third convoy of ships sailed southwards, and in time we suspect may even have reached the far eastern shores of Middle-Earth, which few even of the Elven lords have heard of, even in myths. Of late, strange birds and other potents, the like of which has never been seen, have flown here from the East, bearing parchment upon their legs with only one word written in the long forgotten Audnaic: Numenor." Elrohir sits down, "At last!" whispers one, and shuts up.
Galadriel: A shadow and a threat has been growing in our minds.
Elrond: We must unite or we will fall. If you are not spies of these phantoms, prove it to us by leading an expedition into the far reaches of the East to find out the truth.
*silence fills the room, as the adventurers look at each other, remembering this is an uncarted and unexplored region. Boromir stands up to speak*

Melda was shocked at this revelation. She sat back, her mind whirling. They thought we were spies... she raised her head to look around at the others. There was mingled shock and excitement everywhere. She looked down again, her heart pounding. The lost Numenoreans! Mel couldn't help feeling excited but the thought of such a lengthy expedition scared her a little, though she would have been hard pressed to admit it. She tried to compose herself and listen to what Boromir was saying but the unanswered questions swirled in her head, blocking out everything else.

Idril's jaw dropped, her thoughts a bit scrambled. "But what about getting back home? Would they ever get back home? Would they be there forever? Are they missing back home or has time stopped....?" All this confused her, but excited her at the same time, and slowly she nodded to herself. She'd be willing to go... she waited to hear what Boromir would have to say. "Probably more negative comments, no doubt."

Anduril grinned, she couldn't help it. It made perfect sense, HE couldn't have load on his own peole wandering around during the war so his was sending them into uncharted land. This way they couldn't muck up the storys and therefore never get here. And to go somewhere no one had ever seen unfold before. That was a privalge she would never thought she would be offered.
