Miriel quietly sat down next Meleth, for she had gone for a walk. She looked at the sleeping Elves and grinned. She pulled her long cloak around her. "Any sign of Elegost?" she asked Meleth but she knew the answer already.

Miriel quickly got up and woke Haldir and Luthien. Then she sat down next to Elegost, pacing more wood on the fire to keep it going. The wind was blowing hard and Miriel looked up to the sky. In the dark masses she could distinguish even darker clouds.

"Please no rain," she mumbled and she looked up to Elegost: "How much time have we left? Were you far ahead of them? "

"Yes, Elegost, how close were they?" Meleth suddenly looked concerned. "You're not hurt, are you? Did they see you?" she quickly knelt down to help him with the deer.

Miriel looked at the wound which still looked pretty bad. "You're not fine!"she exclaimed worried. "That wound should be taken care of immediately" Miriel washed the wound with some water from her leather drink bag and ripped some fabric of her dress in a long strip and covered Elegost's wound with it as a bandage. "So, there you go."

Haldir sat up drowsily. "You're all back," he said daftly rubbing his eyes.

Miriel noticed the hesitation on the face of Elegost but decided not to say anything. She briefly told Haldir the things Elegost told them and packed her things.

Meleth fidgeted a little, obviously worried about the orcs. "Elegost, I really don't think we should wait until morning," she said anxiously. "How many did you say you thought there were?"

"So we're leaving?" asked Haldir jumping to his feet. "To our mission, I mean?"

"Eventually," said Meleth. "What we want to do now is avoid those orcs, in my opinion."

"We have our defences," said Haldir confidently looking around at their companions. He fingered his bow lightly and smiled.

"If it comes to a fight, I'm with you Haldir," Miriel said "But I have to agree with Meleth. For we can fight a small party of Orcs but a larger host..?" She looked at her other companions.

Beriadan nodded. "Aye. Best to avoid a fight. Particularly if we're not sure about the enemies' numbers. Any indication of where they were coming from, Elegost?" he asked, frowning a little. "Angmar is quite barren, I must say I'm surprised they're here at all."

"Yes there aren't any of us here just yet," said Haldir glancing around again at their group. "There may be more to come, but we'll try to avoid the large swarms of Uruks at the moment; we cannot handle those."

Luthien rubbed sleep from her eyes and stood up. Elegost had returned and several others, including Haldir, were awake. She could smell warg distinctly, and heard Haldir mention Uruks. "Yrch? Here? So that is why you took so long, Elegost. Run in to a warg or two perhaps?"

Lothwen rose with a worried look on her face. "Orcs?" she said. "What will we do? Do we avoid them and continue on our mission to find the lost palantir, or do we stand and fight them, risking our lives as we do?"
