Lothwen strode ahead of Elegost and Dernhelm and went over to a guard. She wished that they would stop bickering; it was really getting on her nerves. "We have come from the Westfold," Lothwen said to the guard. "A small village was attacked by Saruman's orcs and many were killed or wounded. Will you please help us?." Lothwen dropped the helmet of an Orc at the guard's feet that was branded with the white hand of Saruman. The guard stared at her. "Lord Theoden will not be pleased," he said, "but I will do my best to find you lodging." Lothwen sighed with relief. She sat down and looked around for her friends.

Lothwen looked up as the guard returned. "You will follow me," he said. "The others can follow as well." He turned around and strode off. Lothwen got up and followed him, calling out to the people of the town to come after her and her friends._________________

He laid his weapon down as Dernhelm told him to do so. Okay! he said walking after Lothwen. Looked at angrily to Dernhelm.

"This," said the guard, "is where you will stay." Lothwen stared at the sight before her. There were about fifty houses with thatched roofs built in a circular shape. A well sat somewhat in the middle of the cirele of houses. The handle was slightly rusted. Lothwen sighed. It was not what she had hoped for, but it was good enough, at least for the time being._________________

"I think so," Lothwen replied to Eru. She walked over to it and picked up a water pail that sat beside the well. Pumping the lever up and down, Lothwen poured the water into the pail. She put it up to her mouth and drank some. "It is," she said, and handed the pail to Eru.

Elegost ran after Lothwen and Eruriana leaving behind Dernhelm. Hey! Wait up he yelled as he saw them stopped to drink some water. He jumped over the well.
