Meleth looked at Beriadan. He looked a little doubtful but nodded, and began to spread the word and ready the camp to move out and try to rescue Dernhelm's kinsmen.

Miriel quickly grabbed her bow and belted her sword. "This is going to be suicide" she mumbled to Rye. But she didn't show any fear to the others. "Shall I fetch the horses?" Miriel asked Beriadan who still conversated with Dernhelm about the best tactics.

Beriadan looked slightly frazzled now. "Er - yes -" he said hurriedly. More than doubt was in his eyes now and Meleth could see that he did not like the way things were going. She quickly pulled him aside. "Beri, this is madness," she said firmly. "We cannot hope to defeat them and it is foolish to try."
"I know, Meleth! Do you think I haven't learned anything from years of doing exactly this?"
"Then stop them! There must be an easier way!"

Miriel rushed back with the 4 horses and saw the discussion between Meleth and Beriadan.
She walked over to Rye. "I've a bad feeling of this. Do you think Meleth and Beriadan will come up with another plan?"
She patted her horse while her thoughts were going over the options they had left. No, this was the only thing they could do to have a slight chance of defeating them.

Meleth shook her head at Beriadan. "There absolutely no sense in getting ourselves killed as well. We need to retreat."
He looked troubled but nodded. Meleth strode over to Dernhelm. "We hope that your kinsmen can rescue themselves," she said gravely. "The orc host is too large for us to risk rescuing them. We are sorry."

"No your not, i know these lands. listen to me. they are in a ravine. post 100 arhcers on each side to fire upon the orcs. once they are out of arrows, they drop rocks. after the rocks the cavalry will charge in. If you refuse to help me, i will charge in by meself. I would die rather than see my friends die."

Fearan lept out of thetent he was in. He had heard Dernhelm's voice, and the urgency it contained. He was surprised and shoked to find Dernhelm was injured, that he brought news of attacking orcs. "Dernhelm!" He exclaimed. "Running in there alone is folly. You accomplish nothing, except your death."

"That is the point if i shall receive no help."

Meleth shook her head. "No. I'm sorry, if it is as large as you say, we cannot risk the loss. If you must charge in by yourself, do so."

Meleth nodded gravely. "If you must, I suppose you must. I think it would be valuable for you to reconsider, however." She strode off to look for Beriadan.

Miriel hurried after Meleth. "Meleth," she whispered, "We cannot let him charge these Orcs by himself. It would kill him. " Miriel saw aquestioning look on Meleth's face and continued: "I know, we would ride to great danger and some of us won't return if we'd all go. But I feel a pain in my heart, if we'd let him go alone. Did the Dunedain ever abandone a friend in need?"
All of this was heard by Beriadan who stood silent in the shadows.
"If we do not help him, I, alone will go with him." Miriel knew the thing she said was foolish, however she didn't want to abandone Dernhelm.
