Idril shook her head. "I don't think we should go forward for long. My mare isn't exactly elven and she's as prone to hypothermia as we are. There should be a shelter among the rocks here somewhere, just as long as we don't force ourselves too far."

She forced herself to stand, swaying slightly as she muttered to herself, then called for the mare who trotted over to her lightly. Idril slung her arm over the horse's neck, glancing around, noticing a dark area higher up from the path.

"How about there? Does that look like something to you guys?" She asked.

Melda squinted, her hand holding Sanya's reins loosely. "I can't tell," she said. "It's raining too hard. I guess we have nothing to lose by heading for it."

"And why is that? We can move, but I doubt there are any more trolls in this particular area.... They'd have been here by now. I'm not risking my horse's health and my own nor that of the others. We're in no hurry on this trip, why strain ourselves?" Idril stated in exhasperation, turning to walk slowly towards the shadowed area among the rocks.

Melda followed, thinking that all her food was probably wet and wishing for the first time that they had stayed in Rivendell.

Melda ran to catch up to Idril. "What if there are goblins in these caves?" she asked anxiously. "Like in The Hobbit? It might not be safe to shelter in it, if it is a cave."

"Umm... well..." Idril hesitated. "If it looks too creepy we'll turn around and go back," she replied with a nervous chuckle. "But hopefully, we won't run into trouble. I don't know about you, but I'm freezing and my head hurts like heck..."

As they neared the shadowy area, it turned out to be an alcove, not so much a cave, but a sheltering area of rock, fairly large, but rather shallow in depth.

"Well... I don't think we'll see any goblins here," Idril murmured with a sigh of relief, slumping against the rock, out of the icy rain.

Melda led her horse in and checked her food. It was, as she had feared, mostly wet. "Can we start a fire?" she asked hopefully, shivering.

"Not sure a fire's a good idea, but it does keep wolves away, and wraiths.... unlike in the movie, in the books it wasn't the fire that attracted the wraiths... but I guess we should be more cautious about goblins..." Idril murmured, turning her glance towards Anduril.

"What would you say? Do you think goblins are more attracted to fire...? It would be awful nice to get just a bit warmed and dried before continuing. Besides, it won't be long before morning..." She reasoned, taking her soaked sleeve and wiping at her forehead hesitantly.

"No they have no problem in light, its just sunlight that trolls hate and goblins hate light that is not sunlight or firelight."
