Random thought, but... I was looking at my bow last night and I was thinking. I'm not as good as I would like to be... Does anyone have any suggestions?

What do you mean, you're not as good as you would like to be?

Well, I would just say practice as much as possible. That's really the only way to truly get better. But do you have any specific areas that you need to get better at??

oO one strategy would be to concentrate at the tip of your arrow and make sure it's aligned with the bullseye. just focus and loosen up. make sure your shooting arm is always at the same spot and never changes, so it will make things easier. The best place for your hand to be is just below your jaw ... and make sure your elbow is straight and up high. that should make life easier

^That's true ... but I was talking about indoor shooting, cos I mostly do it indoors. I'm not an expert aimer, but I have a sight, so I can't really help you there I guess.
Pulling back to your nose isn't far enough ... your arrow can't get far that way... okay what was i saying .. not below your jaw, but below your ear and right AT the jaw. I tried pulling it back to my nose before when I first started to learn, but that won't work with far distances.

Hmmm, what happened to the club here? I am not a member but used to check in here once in a while to see if I could pick up any archery tips. I practise with a cheap long bow of very bad quality. I don't know of what material but definately not wood. The arrows are even worse, but I guess it's all so much more of a challenge, lol
And yes I do want a better (and more expensive) one but there are so many different types even if I only want a simple long bow...very confusing...
Anyway, I was hoping to revive the club as it would be a shame to se it abandoned... after all it is actually a very useful club since so many of you seems to be experts who don't mind sharing your knowldge!

oO thanks for reviving the club, Eä!!
Hmm ... but have you ever tried buying a simple longbow stave and decorating it yourself? they're pretty cheap ... the only thing wrong with them is that they're completely plain! but they work really well ...

Ever been to Le Baron? It's a store that I know exists in Mississauga/Toronto, as I've been there before. I have their site URL if you need it. The bows are excellent and inexpensive.

Well, right now I don't care so much for fancy design or decorations, I just want it functional. I looked at some long bows on the internet and the cheapest ones were around $100-130. Anyway, I accept the price if that's what they cost, but how would an amateur like me figure out whether the bow preferably be slightly curved or straighter or more triangley or anything else....?
So far I'll stick to the bow I have and practise aiming on a short distance...
