omg...the coloring is just absolutely amazing, did you do with photoshop or---a computer program? Surely no one can achieve the perfect smoothness with paper and pastel/pencils. Amazing!

I only use Photoshop. It's always worked fine for me and I haven't even looked at anything else. Thanks to both you guys for the comments!!

Here's my latest colorized stuff, sorry for just the links, but I've been lazy lately :P

Thanks for the comments guys! Here's my most recent stuff. After a month of strenous sketching and later some rather tedious airbrushing and texturizing, here's the final version of the GoF characters from Harry Potter. Hope you guys like them, they were incredibly hard to work at. A particular hard one to come to grips to was the Ron one, probably because of the picture I picked, but the Cedric one's my favorite of the four cause it turned out exactly like I wanted. The girls might need a little work still after looking at them closely; I want the Hermione one to look softer and not so glowy and the Fleur one is too "lighted" too although its hard to create shadows without upsetting the balance, so for now this is it :P That's it, here ya go! Sketches on the left, finished versions on the right. Don't hate them too much :P

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHH MYYYY GOOOODNESSSSS!!

These are all so amzing..absolutely fantastic I think I'm gonna comment on all of them.
Beware, my commenting style's a little funky, I'll write short sentences about everything, go back and looka t the picture...then discover something else I love about it....lol

Ron: I love the shading on his face, and the coloring of his hair, those two got my attention right away. I love the depth you gave his lower eyelids, fantastic. I also really really like the depth and reality hat you gave his lip and chin. Of course the whole thing is so absolutely fantastic, that I'm just pointing out the things I really really like! Great job on this one, I also like the good detail (with shading) on his pants.

Hermione: This is my second favorite one out of these. I love the detail you gave her hair and her eyes very captivating. One of the first things I noticed on this one was how well you used the lighting like the very light or shiny parts of the closer (left) part of her face, great job with that. Another thing that I noticed was how you grwat you colored her pants, I don't know why, but great job with the jean-y effect and the color. Great job with her lips and with the expression on little Hermione's face, it's a bonafide Hermione face. :-P
Lovely!!

Fleur: I noticed in this one her very shiny lip gloss looking lips, good job on those, shiny-looking, but you didn't make it look like too much. The one thing I love about this picture is the detail on her jacket and shirt/vest thingy, especially on the shirt/vest thing. Fantastic job on that! I really like the eye part of her face, great job with the expression, lashes and eyebrows! Lovely job!

Cedric: This is my favorite one, the shading on his face is perfect, and I love the detail on his cloak, especially the inner part that you see blowing. I also like how you made the sparkles in his wand bubbly unlike the other ones :-). These are my favorite lips (lol) I really like how you made them look chapped-ish but not like falling apart, sort of like when you lick your lips when they're chapped...lol. I love the little details of his eyebrows...and have i mentioned how much I like the lighting and shading? I really like the hair details as well. His eyes are very intense, you did a marvelous job on all of these!!

I will comment later on your other posts...I envy you...know that.

Lol, well first of all thank-you!! I don't think I've ever had such an extensive comment on my work. And since you went through all that trouble of commenting on each one, I guess it's only fair to reply to every comment too.

Hmm, okay Ron: this was particularly really hard to come to grip with and I still regret picking that picture of him holding his breath. The expression was really hard to create and the eyes always gave me the feeling they were a little too deep? kind of like if he'd been punched in both and it was almost gone? no? maybe that's just me :P The hair was also an issue, because I didn't have any Ron pics to go by when I colorized this so I was afraid to go too orange, although his hair is a pretty strong red. I really liked the eyes, they turned out all shiny and liquidy.

Hermione: I liked Hermione in this one, particularly the hair. That was fun to draw. I only want to take the lighting intensity down just a little, so it's not that glowy and I want her overall complexion to be a little bit smoother, just a tad though.

Fleur: well pretty little Fleur wasn't really that much trouble. It was actually the easiest one to color, but the hardest to sketch. Because her face is so perfect, it really depends on how accurate everything else is, but because its so simple the coloring's a snap and the only texture I needed was a little for the eyes and face and the hat. Little Fleur looks a little more angry when she should actually be serious, but you can't win them all.

Cedric!!! I refuse to complain on Cedric. It looks just as I want it look, and no one can tell me any different, MUA-HAHAAA!!! Just kidding, I actually liked it the most because it looks like Harry in terms of composition.

Thanks again for commenting!! Not sure If I'm going to keep working on expanding this little series. I had planned for Krum to complete the set, but I also wanted to do others like Cho, the twins, and Tonks, and Ginny, maybe Neville, and some of the teachers, ahhh!!!! they're too many!! Guess we'll just wait and see. I did want to do a fan art with the 4 founders of the school, but that would be in a different style.

Oh well thank you for commenting back on the comments.
One question. When you say you use textures, what do you mean? You actually take textures and set them to overlay (or any of them) over a certain part in the picture? If so, can you show me some of the textures you use and for whch parts?
If thats asking too much then forget about it, i don't want to reveal all of the master's secrets.

Exactly, when I say texturize or use texture, I mean that. I have a nice big piece of, skin, for example. I usually set it to Multiply over an area and then erase the excess, or whatever isn't needed. I usually use textures for skin, particularly around the eyes, cheeks, and nose. Also for clothing as long as it suits what I'm trying to show. Umm... about showing them, I might have a few I can share; I'd have to check. Probably not my skin ones because I made those myself, and they were very hard to create.

The backgrounds aren't anything special really, it's just a rendering of clouds set to a particular color, then differentiate the clouds twice, next distort to polar coordinates, and smudge and blur any awkward points. :)

Oh that's so cool, I never considered that people used skin textures for skin, that's awsome, and you made 'em yourself, that's really cool!
and yes, please do share. :-D
