Haldir bowed and was about to say more when he noticed Meleth pale and struggling on her saddle. He rushed over to her and immediately lifted her carefully off the steed.

"Where are you hurt?" said Haldir, knowing perfectly well that she was hurt.

Meleth didn't struggle, as she would normally, but let Haldir lift her. She was breathing in gasps and could hardly stand. "My side..." she managed to say, and then fainted, her face very white. Her tunic was, indeed, soaked with blood on one side.

Luthien gasped, mad at herself for not noticing Meleth's injury. "Haldir, can you heal her, or do you need help?"

Haldir lay Meleth down and hardly took any notice of her blood soaked on his cloak. "I think I may need a bit of assistance," said Haldir, looking around for Athelas.

Luth reached into her tunic, pulling out a small package of assorted herbs. "Here Haldir, I keep it for emergencies." She handed it to him, then closed her eyes and started mouthing a healing chant in Elvish.

Miriel watched the Elves closely and mumbled something about Meleth's stubborness.
She watched Elessar wh o looked worried at Meleth. "My friend, are you hungry? You must have had along and tiring journey."

Haldir muttered a few words as well and took a bit of the herb from Luthien. He lifted the side of Meleth's tunic and found the wound almost instantly. It was a deep one, which made it harder to work with.

This felt really awkward since Meleth was a female, so he passed the herbs silently to Luthien.

Lothwen watched nervously as Haldir and Luthien began to heal Meleth's wound. "Will she be all right?" Lothwen asked.

"I can't tell yet, but could someone boil some water, please? You would think none of you had seen a wound before!" Taking the herbs from Haldir, she rolled them in her hands, warming them until they felt soft and like one mass. This she then shaped into a flat square and laid it over the wound. "I need to clean the area, preferably before she awakens."

Haldir started up a fire and let it warm up. "Does anyone have a pot or anything that I can use?" said Haldir looking around.

"Sorry, I didn't think of taking that on this journey." said Miriel with a soft smile. She looked at Meleth and wondered how she ever could be able to travel like this.
"Luthien, do you think Meleth will be conscious soon?" She spoke her thoughts. "The Orcs retreated for now, but they will come back. It will be dangerous to linger here too long though Meleth will need rest. "

Haldir sighed and took an empty Lembas wrapping out of his bag. It was pretty sturdy. He folded it into a bowl-shaped form and filled it with water from a nearby stream. Then he held it over the fire by hand. "This seems to work," he said cheerily.

"Thank you, Haldir." Luth put her hand upon Meleth's pale forehead before answering Miriel, "I do not think she will fully recover consciousness until the athelas has worked for some time. Perhaps our best option would be to make a sort of stretcher until we can lay her down somewhere safer."

"Excellent idea," said Haldir. He snatched his hand back away from the fire when he realised the water was extremely hot already. "This should do," said Haldir, quickly putting the leaf down on the floor beside Luthien.

"I'll go help Lothwen look for sticks," he said.
