"Well, if you feel safer, we can both watch," Idril offered with a smile, feeling uneasy herself, but trying her best not to show it as she sat with her back against the rock of the alcove. "I've slept a bit already, so it doesn't really matter..."
As the night wore on, somewhat uneventfully, save for a few howls of nearby wolves, the rain let up for the first time in what seemed days. The horses began to graze during the dark hours, to regain their strength and energy.
Morning rose clear and bright, not to mention colorful, with a red hue to picturesque clouds, but Idril shook her head with a sigh. "I'm afraid we're in for a thunderstorm this evening.... but at least this one should be brief, not long and drawn out." She mentioned as she dug a few chunks of dried and smoked meat from her saddlebag, handing some of it to the others, along with lembas.

Melda blinked sleepily, not having been able to get very much sleep, and accepted gratefully, feeling surprisingly hungry. "Which way do we go now?" she asked, finishing the last of her lembas, which tasted quite as as good as she had imagined.

"Well the easiest thing would be to go through the mountain via the goblins, but we should go south with the mountains on ourleft to the Redhorn Pass. If thats blocked then we should keep going to the Gap of Rohan. I don't Moria is the best ida.

Idril shook her head. "No, we'd be going far out of the way if we headed south... I agree, Moria isn't a good idea, niether is redhorn pass, nor the gap of Rohan. The gap of Rohan gives a greater chance for us to be seen by Saruman, and he might get curious..."
After a moment, she stood and started saddling her horse after brushing the sleek coat off with her hand for a while. "We're nearly through this pass, and the old forest road is our safest bet. The other way will delay us for days, maybe weeks. If we travel by daylight, all day today, we'll get through with time to spare and the light will give us more chance if goblins do decide to go after us. The quicker we end up meeting the elves, the safer we'll be."

Melda frowned, a little confused by all this, and then nodded. "Okay. So if we travel all day today, we'll be pretty close to - Lorien?" she asked, still a a little mixed up. She slowly started to get her horse ready, learning as she went.

Nocte listened carefully to the others, rubbing her eyes gently. "Do you all have weapons? I have a spare dagger to offer if anyone needs it...".
"So.... all day?", Nocte carried on, "Great.... but we should travel by night as well, not all night but a bit, if that's okay with you all. Save us some time, and there's more possibility to find ourselves into an adventurous yet misfortuanate event!". Nocte smirked as she said this but her expression eventually grew serious and rambled on, "Don't wanna be any trouble but if you're gonna rest all night, I'll take a look of what's ahead and come back to tell who's ever on watch if I see something worrying. Though we can decide on that later on, we have all day to decide!".
As she finally finished, she mounted Iawen and wielded her staff - holding the crafted reins with one steady hand and another almost-full hand, struggling slightly. I'm still not into this whole hero-on-hourse-back thing she thought misrably and glared back at the others.
"Are you all ready or not!?".

"I - can't - get - the - saddle back on!" said Melda in frustration, trying to lift the heavy thing. "It just won't work!" She put it down and looked helplessly at everything. "I don't understand how it works at all."

Idril smiled slightly and helped Meld with her saddle while she glanced at Nocte. "Well, we have the whole day ahead of us, and if we're able, we'll continue through a part of the night as well. We'll reach Mirkwood. Lothlorien is more towards the south, but the Old Forest Road leads straight through to Mirkwood."
Idril cinched up the saddle firmly and patted Meldawen's horse gently. "There you go, Meld.... next time I'll show you how to do it. It really isn't quite hard once you learn." She mentioned with a smile before mounting her own horse, settling into the saddle.

"But would he be friendly?" asked Melda, now with a working saddle. "Remember, he's not really predisposed to be civil toward us - he's never met us." She hauled herself ungracefully onto her horse.

Idril muffled a laugh, grinning slightly as she urged her horse forward. "We certainly do have a good story. I'm pretty confident we'll be welcomed well enough, if not just to find out what this is all about, just to satisfy his curiousity. The worst that could happen is he'd send us on our way..." She shrugged her shoulders slightly, then lifted her reins in one hand, guiding the mare with light touches of the leather against the horse's neck.

Anduril finally clambered onto Dreaw and scowled, she wasn't big on horse and would have preferred to walk

Idril raised a brow slightly at Numenorian, glancing back from her saddle. "I offered food earlier. I still have some jerky, not sure what the elves call it, and also so lembas. Would you like any?" She smiled slightly towards him, patting her satchel. "It's easy to eat on the go... But I'd suggest we eat only small amounts for a while, so we may save up on our supplies just in case we run into delays."
