The whole anme change doesn't bother me, cause it's not like the band and the music is changing. But it does strike me as odd that after 10 years, now they're told they have to change there name?
*rubs chin*

Rhapsody of Fire? I don't get it... And yeah, after so many years, you'd think people would be nice enough to let these things go. And they say it's a matter of 'pride' and 'honour' and what not. Well who cares, languages are limited. It's so stupid when people go ahead and trademark things...I mean it's just gonna fall into misuse and thank-you very much you just destroyed another piece of the English language. What about the whole WWF to WWE debacle? Personally 'World Wrestling Federation' sounds much better than 'World Wrestling Entertainment'...it just ruins whatever illusion of realism is in wrestling. I'm done venting. Whatever.

I agree with you, it is silly. Everyone knows them as Rhapsody. But in saying that, Rhapsody in Fire isn't that bad of a name and it isn't going to affect there music. So more power to them.
On a mini-side note: I still have problems calling WWF, WWE. It just seems wrong.

Well damn, if I had been on here sooner (I haven't been for at least a couple of months -- silly me) I would've been sooo glad to see this thread. I still am...but since Im far too lazy to figure out what you guys are talkin about right now, I'll just tell ya my favorite bands at the moment... =P
-Pantera...as always. Everybody loves 'em, right?
-Iced Earth.
-Black Label Society.
-Godsmack -- not really metal, but I love them to death anyway.
-Arch Enemy! Hellz yeah, I loveee Angela Gossow. xD
-Exodus.
-Motorhead.
-Metallica's stuff, up to the Black Album.
My favorite genre would have to be thrash..the others are cool, but thrash tops it all.

^^ Thank yah, and I'm glad to see that there are so many metalheads out there, even though it's kinda strange that there's so many of 'em on a LotR fansite. xD

I think it's a geek thing maybe.
That and a lot of metal is fantasy based, so it's relevant in that way.
Or I'm talking rollocks..and it's just a nice coincidence.

yeah, but when most people hear someone say 'metal' then they usually don't think of Lord of the Rings as well. Like, Slayer's a far cry from LotR...but I suppose that there is a lot of metal that could be related to it, like a lot of the power metal bands? i think... =P sorry, my brain's not working properly at the moment.

LOL Yeah well, I guess Slayer would be classed as a whole different kind of fantasy.
Really lookin forward to the new Slayer album. Heard a few songs off it and I was pleased.

Cult is a good song. But it's no Angel of Death.
