I live in California, USA! in the neighboring city, they start on the 5th. It's just our district that wants to be weird and start a week early.

I agree with Lilli.
but we used to start in September. But we get a ski break in February so we start a week earlier. I prefer that b/c we get an extra week during a stressful time to just relax, or do projects.

we changed at our school. we still have a block system, but now we're the same as the city schools. no more fall break and month long christmas breaks. and shorter summer. i think.

I do too, unless you've got a horribly nasty teacher who gives you a project over that break. Then it just stinks.

I had one teacher like that last year. The students then spent each class period contemplating on how to go about torturing him. Seriously, they scared me. The ideas they came up with...*shudders*
