As the sky grew lighter, the horses grew nearer to Dernhelm's supposed Dunedain camp. As Meleth halted on the edge of the ravine, she bit her lip. Down near the bottom, still bodies were strewn about a ruined camp. Meleth closed her eyes. "We did not have much hope..." she reminded herself out loud, as if to ease the guilt she felt at not arriving sooner.

She turned to Miriel and Fearan. "I suppose we should go down, to see if there are any survivors," she suggested in a low voice.

"Oh no.." Miriel whispered. Her face grew pale by seeing the ruins of the camp. She breathed in deeply and said with a trembling voice. "Our delay has taken much too long... come on"
She urged her horse in a gallop and quickly made her way to the Duinedan camp.

Meleth and Fearan followed, Meleth's jaw set miserably and her seat rigid in her saddle.

"Now orcs!!!" cried dernhelm in a rasping voice. All the "dead" bodies stood up and marched forward firing arrows and launching catapults."

Meleths quickly sprang back onto Minuail, who reared in panic and started to bolt. "Miriel! Fearan! Follow me!" yelled Meleth, and shot off deeper into the ravine. The way back was blocked entirely by orcs.

She looked nervously at Meleth and whispered "I say we ride into them, they do not expect it.. and maybe we have the chance to kill Dernhelm before we die.."

Meleth craned her neck and looked wildly about, before dodging an orc arrow with elven precision and swiftness and giving Miriel a slight nod. She looked behind her at Fearan and hissed, "When I give the word..." she sidled Minuial a fraction closer and said suddenly, "Now!" after which she charged straight at the orc ranks, her twin knives scything from horseback.
