i love wicked. im in the middle of reading the book right now and then im going to read son of a witch, which is the book after wicked. i love the show, though i havn't seen it yet. i was going to see it in atlanta but it was all sold out so i saw rent but i have the recording of the original cast and its great.

Same here! I absolutely love the book!!!! I have Son of a Witch, and I'm gonna start reading it sometime soon. I still haven't seen it on Broadway yet (but I might see it this February vacation, but I still gotta push my parents a little more) but I have the OBC soundtrack and tis absolutely amazing!!!! I love the OBC, especially Idina Menzel (who is just absolutely positively incredible in every way possible) and Kristin Chenoweth!!!! :) I also have this book called The Grimmerie, which is, in fact, titled after the Grimmerie in the book and play, and tis a reeeeeeeally big green book (tis bigger than a textbook!!!) and tis all about the book and behind-the-scenes of the play!!!!! They have quotes from the author Gregory Maguire, the Broadway director Joe Mantello, the composer Stephen Schwartz (sp?) and members of the original Broadway casts (and other casts after that)!!!! Tis amaaaaaaazing!!!!! It also has the script for the play, but I haven't read that yet (I still wanna be surprised if I ever get around to seeing it!!!) other than that tis absolutely incredible!!!!! :-D I highly recommend getting that too!!!

OMG I HAVE HUGE NEWS!!!!! :jawdrop:
For Christmas, "Santa" got my family tickets to see Wicked on Broadway in April!!!!!! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooo... excited!!!!! Even though I won't be seeing it w/ the Original Broadway or London Cast (particularly Idina and Kristin, cuz I'd give practically anything to see either of them), I'm still super excited to see it!!!!!! :-D I'm gonna be obsessing over it (more than usual) up till then! I'm already counting down till April 13th!
Sorry about this; I just had to post this on here!!!

The book was pretty good. I loved the connections to the original The Wizard of Oz by L. F. Baum. Like the sheep and a cow paid to the Wicked Witch of the East is really a Sheep and a Cow given to Nessarose!

I read it and I loved it, although, as you say, some parts are a little adult. I haven't read Son of A Witch, although I want to. I'm very interested in Confessions of An Ugly Stepsister. I like how he presents traditional fairytales from a different angle, making us think that maybe the villains aren't always truly the villain. It's all how you look at it. I like th thought-provoking-ness of it.
I have never seen the musical. I do however, have the soundtrack which I love very much. The music is amazing. I want to see the show so badly. Maybe I'll have to save up for tickets and see if I can go next time it comes around.

Wicked's a good book. I love the mention of religion and politics! Has anybody read the sequel, Son of a Witch? I have and it's really good.

It's now a Broadway musical (someone's probably posted that already :P), and my mom saw it and said it was AWESOME! I want to see it so bad, but she's seen it twice, so she won't take me :disgust: I'll have to check out the book, though! :)

The book and the musical are very different from what I understand though. The book has much more adult themes in it. However, I'm suer they're both amazing, so both seeing the musical and reading the book are good ideas.
I read the book before I even knew it was a musical. I was so confused when I found out that it was one. I couldn't really see how they could do it. When you think about it though, if they twist the plot a little, they can make practically anything into a musical.

Ha, I recently read the book, and I wasn't big on it. I think the idea could have been great. I saw a pirated version of the musical, and I like what they did with Wicked the musical so much more.

I AM A FAN OF THE ''WICKED'' WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! :boing: :goofy:  :jawdrop:
I have terad the book and watch the musical! They're awesome!
My fave characters are Fae(look nick),Glin,Yero,Nessa,Boq,Nanny,Liir,Dr. Dillamond, all the characters! The book and the musical have so much girl power, and that rocks! :-D
I think the only character that I don't like so much in the book is Glinda, she is too cold and a bit selfish.I prefer her in the musical,in there she is like Fae's ''Sam''.
Now ,if they do a movie from Wicked, what do you preferto be adapted? The musical or the book? :)

^ i actually think they could do both.....use the musical and make it a musical...but also pull more stuff from the book that didn't get put in the musical.....cuz there are things in the book that i think should be seen to explain more and there are explainations in the musical that would help.

so i finally finish the book....that was good.....this past april i was in new york and almost had the chance to see the musical but it didn't happen but im excited because we are trying really hard to see it this coming april when the touring company is in charlotte,nc....im so jelous...my cousin got to see it in london...
