Meleth discreetly watched other elves as they gradually came to sit down. Most of her time was spent either alone or in the company of other rangers, elven or human, and she found the mannerisms of those whose lives differed so much from hers amusing. In her hands she unconsciously twisted a small portion of the fabric in her long violet dress while she peered up from under long eyelashes, a smile playing around her lips as her eyes flicked back and forth. How tedious, she thought, to spend your life wearing lovely gowns and pretending to be interested in meaningless conversation.

Turwaithiel smiled again when she nodded and walked in. Turwaithiel could tell how she already stuck out, for she wore no dress or nothing formal, but she told herself that to go to an party you must be yourself, not an pretender. If she wore an dress tonight, she would be an pretender, nothing more.

At this rate, it's going to take until next New Years' for everyone to sit down.. Elwen thought annoyedly, glancing around boredly while fiddling with one of her sleeves. A bad case of nerves was coupled with a pure annoyance of having to stay throughout this whole party when she'd much rather be reading in her room.

(that's his name!! i couldn't remember the spelling...)
Turwaithiel walked over and sat down in the corner, not knowing where Lothwen had disappeared to. She looked out an window and saw the trees blow against the soft east wind. "Oh Tathar, how I wish I could take you out and ride you with the wind again..." She was referring to her horse, Tathar, whom she been meanign to ride peacefully for many days.

"Sure, that would be lovely," said Lothwen. I don't think she wants me to ask why she's usually away, she thought to herself. That's fine with me, everyone has their secrets. Lothwen smiled again and started making her way towards the Palace of Mirkwood._________________

"Thanks; it's in just the right place," Lothwen said, winking. The table was in a back corner (?) by a window (?) that looked out over a few leafy trees. Sitting down beside Turwaithiel, she glanced curiously about her and waited for the festival to begin.

(Gonna speed it up a little..)
Soon, everyone was finally seated, and the meal began shortly thereafter. As a result, the noise level in the hall once again rose, making it very hard to even hear your own thoughts.
