Maybe they could be French pirates, sent out by France on purpose to attack the ship. They could send pirates instead of a navy ship because it wouldn't be as obvious. I'm thinking this through as I type it. lol

The Pirates could possibly be Spanish or Dutch, ya konw. Those were the big super powers of the time. Oh! Has anyone seen the 1936 movie with Erol Flynn in it Captain Blood? He captains a ship made of slaves from England who were "rebels" there.
The pirates could be slaves wanting revenge; at least they could lead the Pirate Legion and the privateer could be a greedy Pirate that used to own the seas before the slave-pirates came along and became number one.

Thanks Wandering Darkness! You're awesome. I'm still figuring out some details. I did think of a possible name- Sailing Through the Storm. And the ship could be the HMS Steadfast.

Yeppers! I'm just trying to work out a few details. Anyone know of a country that the HMS ship could be taking the documents to or from? I'm having a hard time figuring out who would have been an ally during that time.

Loving the banner!!
I'm confused. Can someone explain to me exactly what the plot of this DMC/Master and Commander RP would be? And are the pirates good or bad?  I haven't seen Master and Commander, either. _________________

Well, if it based on Master and Commander, I think it should be the French virsus the English.

Great banner!
The basic plot for the M&C RP will be something like this- The HMS Steadfast is carrying important documents from England to Portugal(?) or vice-verse. The documents include letters of marque and tactical battle plans. While they're sailing, they're attacked by pirates, (possibly French or Spanish) who steal the documents and take one or more of the ship's crew hostage. The captain decides to pursue the pirates.

BTW, pirates aren't actually affiliated with any one country, that's why they are called pirates, because they work for themselves.
