Well. I wouldve liked a wedding also. but when two people kiss just SO passionately, full of triumph, we assume they get married and live the rest of their lives happily together. (forever after.) and I hadnt read the books when i saw rotk the first time, and I knew at once they'd get married.

But it would have been nice to see it anyway.

You can find them just about anywhere that sells Tolkien's books. Not all the books in the series mind you, but most of them. I do believe it's possible to order the complete series in one book off the internet, but I'm not sure. You can also check them out from a local library.

Thank you so much Larael! I'll definitely have to get those then. Of course I've heard of The Lost Tales ones before and was planning on getting them, but none of the others. *sigh*All the Tolkien I have is LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and something called the Tolkien reader which has a couple of his stories, including The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. I'll have to go out and buy these ones now too! Thankies again!

I agree with you. It would have been nice to see, but I also realize that they couldn't fit everything in to the movies. Besides, a description of their wedding was not in LOTR. It was mentioned in the appendices, but not described in detail. I don't know if it was in any of his other books. But it definitely would have been a beautiful thing to see.

Of couse, many things were added into LOTR that were not in the books. PJ could have used an imagination. But I agree in some terms that the wedding would have made the movie longer than it was.
*Ps: I saw the midnite showing, so it would have been even longer than it was.

yeah. the book says only something like: the next day they wedded or something like that. but maybe it's not the main thing in their story, I think the main thing is; how did they become to get married, love each other and what sacrifices did they make?

I think you're right Earlinde. The marriage is not what's really important in the story. What's important is the reason they got married: because of how much they loved each other. The story of Aragorn and Arwen is beautiful enough I think, even without the wedding description.
Although, as Telpeath said, it would have been nice to see it.

Yes, I agree. The love story follows the same line of Luthiel and Berin's marrage. We dont know how they got married. All we know is that they loved each other and died together

^yep. or well actually, then both Beren and Aragorn died, then the original elf would grieve and die herself.. *sighs* sad.. but I think the two of them are the ultimate love stories..

Don't be too hard on the newbies Haldir. I was one just a little while ago. And we have to give Telpeath a lot of credit. He's changed his mind. He's gotten over his Aragorn hatred.

To reply to your posts concerning marriage. I tend to agree with Eärlinde and T.T. Marriages might not have the same status as in (some parts of) this world. Tolkien never spends many lines on them, but keeps the focus on the stories.
I think I read something on Elven marriages somewhere, that the ceremony is very simple and basically the couple announce their love in the name of Elbereth...
(*nodnod* We must be nice to newbies... we've all been there at some point, and still can be somewhere else!)
