I always thought that they did. The very first time I saw it, I kind of had to do a doubletake to make sure it wasn't her.

I thought their casting of the ages of the Madame Girys were well done.
Young Madame Giry looked liked Madame Giry and Meg definitely looked like her mother in aspects of the face features and so I wasn't surprised to see Meg look like her mother in the present-backs.

The one with Lon Chaney? It's Ok, I can appreciate the the way it was made and the sets are very impressive for the time. It has to be a very special silent film for me to like it.

I'm sure it will have been. Was it brightly coloured in some parts?

Yeah, that's the one. I didn't like Christine. Too much of a ham actor. I never like the way the faces are in silent films. Too plae and the eyes seem to pop out.

Lol- I would love to see that one sometime. It would be fun to compare, and see how they thought of it back then.

^It's hilarious!
they're so dramatic, they over exaggerate, since they're silent movie..they have to.
and Raoul's so ugly in that one!
ew ew ew
But, I did think the actress who played Christine was pretty, especially for that time period, too.

I can't reall remember much about it, but the typrical reaction for fear in silent films is: step backwards, hold your arms to you face, open your eyes and mouth wide..pretend you can't scream..and then completely cover your eyes with your arms as you'v very celevery backed yourself into a corner and can't escape.

*coughs* *is still in extreme fandom mode having seen it for the very first time recently*

I LOVED the silent movie with Lon Chaney. It's a CLASSIC.
A year and a half ago, at the Civic theatre downtown (one of the last standing old-style performance theatres today) and we had an excellent organ player to go along during the movie, it was brilliant.

Now, that's the way to watch a film. Never mind all these modern soundtracks, have someone having a good old bash on the pianola. Great.
