OK, it took me well over 3 months to read the whole thing. I'm a slow reader so this was good time for me and having 7siblings, HSing, House-keeping and watching the 12hrs of LOTR I found myself reading just one page at 1am just to read a little. What's your excuse? :)

How did you like it? I thought it was very good and it should have been published first... I also thought it was a lot like Genesis, which shows that you can't write a book without having some kind of influence from your real-life world. I know, I know, Tolkien didn't like allegories, but c'mon...

here are some of my allegories... that I have found go with my real life beliefs...

Lol....it took me four hours to read it, the first time, but I haven't sat down and read it all at once since then...I read a bit, then do something else, then read a bit more, etc.

As for the Allegories, I think you've nailed that.

Nothing, really, except to point out that I don't think you mean Arda as a heavenly place...I think you mean more like Valinor.

I like your allegories!

I have to agree, four hours is pretty impressive! Reading it around school and everything it took me a few months the first time I read it, in grade six.

The first time I read the Sil it took me two days. I was reading in all my freetime, because I found the book very interesting and exciting - I couldn't put it down. Since then I read it over and over again.. :)
I really like your allegories by the way, HirilAlatariel except that I agree more with what Aerandir said concerning heaven. But I must say that the Sil kinda reminds me of the Bible sometimes.

That was me. And it is possible to read it that quickly--there are some people I know who could probably read it faster (one of them blazed through Lord of the Rings in twelve hours).

it took me two or three days to read it. it was a christmas present and i had nothing to do so i read hours and hours because i loved it so much. it is a bit difficult to read otherwise i would've been faster and i also read it in german but 4 hours is a quite nice speed...

I know I could read it in 16 hours--that's at a rate of a page a minute, which I am more than capable of doing. But I don't feel like spending sixteen hours to read it in a short a time as possible.

this book is for enjoying. i think it would be inappropriate to try to read it as fast as possible in order to show off...

yeah, I agree. I usually take a lot of time to read LotR, because I enjoy reading every single word and I love to dream about LotR while reading it.
