Of course.

Metal really did come from anger and hatred and defiance of all mainstream...I AM talking musically.

Metal lyrics and sound are much more angry than rock, if you take a look at a lot of it.

Is this a better source for ya:

Just because they are an allmusic website doesn't mean that metal is rock.

Although, metal probably did originate somewhere or other like Britain, or at least the more significant stuff like Maiden and Priest.

However...since when were Jimi Hendrix and The Who and Cream metal?

They are classic rock, not metal.

That proves your lil source's reliability.

Jimi Hendrix, The Who and other artists were important to the movement that later would become heavy metal. They never were metal and if you read the site carefully it doesn't say that either. Led Zeppelin was really the first metal band.

Are you serious? They are basically the founding fathers of what would become heavy metal, next to Black Sabbath of course

I'd say Black Sabbath or Judas Priest or something like that is MUCH more of the "original" metal if you will. Led Zeppelin is classic rock that inspired metal.

Zeppelin were and still are very influential to a lot of metal bands.
Sabbath are the Kings.

It seems that we all have been too busy throwing sarcastic and hidden insults at each other throughout this thread that we completely missed the warning the Moderators had put up about flaming.

It was considered a warning, or was that only apparent to us?

We see that the whole argument fiasco is really fun and all but it has to stop because...

a) You guys ignored the flaming warning because let's face it, you guys can't say that you guys weren't flaming and throwing insults at each other which by the way that goes against the rules of disrespecting / being rude to another member even if you guys view each other as the Allies vs. Central Powers.

b) This thread is entitled "Who here does not like rap?" which really indicated no discussion about rock, metal, or heck even heavy metal. It's about rap and those who can discuss why they may or may not like in a [so we thought] mature manner.

If you guys want to start a discussion about rock/metal and CALMLY AND CIVILY have a conversation of how awesome/sucky in comparison to other things, then go on! Be our guest, go to town.

But you may NOT continue arguing over it here in such a manner.

Am I the only one who highly dislikes these rap videos? Not that I care about naked skin being shown on TV, be my guest, but rap videos are close enough to being soft-porn videos. That's not what little kids need to see, especially little girls - let them wait at least until they are in their teens to develop some form of body complex.

Not all rap videos show half-naked girls, and I agree with you Child --- it really disgusts me how video directors always focus on the dancing half-naked girls. I s'pose it's because the majority of rap songs these days are very sexual in their subjects and so it's relevant.

There are other rap music videos that don't involve half-naked girls, but then I have noticed it's subjected around mature themes as well like violence that aren't good for people under 18.
