Pallid moon shines,
Dreary house still.

A shadow passes,
Crying innocence.

Blood is spilled,
Blades soaked in gore.

Phantoms screech,
Hiding dead faces.

Thunder explodes,
Grim abode exposed.

A skull lies barren,
Demanding its due.

Souls wail,
My heart beats fast.

Death arrives,
Scythe in hand.

Despaired I cry,
"Horror!"

My light lost
In reaper's shade.

I love that line! That was definately horrific, if you don't mind my saying so. It was very terse and very well written, and said so much without sounding really wordy. Well done! You know you can write poetry when it sends shivers up someone's spine... :bones: :vampire:

Thank you, this little poem came after an intense Edgar Allan Poe reading session.

A Poe fan?????? Goodness!! I love Edgar Allen Poe's writing. Have you read, "The Masque of Red Death" by him? Ooooh... veeery creepy. :) Still, now I can really see how that poem could be Poe inspired.

Yes, I've read it several times, have you read "The City In the Sea"?

City in the Sea? No, I actually haven't but I would love to. Now I think I'll make a point to check it out! :) Do you like any of his poetry, Poe's that is?
