Barry sat upon the cold deck alone. The rest of the crew were below deck enjoying an early victory feast, seeing as Captain Grey had already predicted their winning.
"Bloody Captain...I'm freezing my butt off out here..."
Grey had told him to keep a close eye on Isabelle until they reached their destination.

As if on cue, Isabelle stirred. She felt sore all over, and her throat and head ached something awful. For a moment she was extremely disoriented - why couldn't she move very much? - but in a second she came fully awake and remembered the whole unpleasant episode. She looked around apprehensively. There didn't seem to be many pirates about. Then she spotted Barry and wished she'd stayed unconscious.

Isabelle just glared. She tried to shift position but only ended up making herself more uncomfortable - the ropes were very tight. The wind whistled above her and she suddenly realized how very cold she was. Determined not to have her teeth chatter in front of a pirate - any pirate - Isabelle clenched them together and remained stonily silent.

Isabelle squeezed her eyes shut. "I don't have a 'crush' on anyone, thank you very much."
Oh dear. Now her voice was wobbling dangerously. She desperately tried to disguise it by adding officiously, "And yes, it's none of your business," but only succeeded in sounding sulky.

Isabelle wasn't really listening, still attempting to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill over, but this shocked her out of her misery for a moment. She said nothing, and inwardly examined this new outlook on pirates. Unbidden, an absurd scene of Barry proposing to a blushing Claudia rose to the surface of her thoughts and to her very great surprise, she found herself amused by it.

Shocked, Isabelle wiped the sly little grin off her face and turned to look at him, the very picture of misery. Her hair was wildly messy, her cheeks were streaked with dirt and a few tears - but she still managed a superior expression. "No, I don't believe I ever said you were."
