This came in a flash of inspiration, after reading 'The Two Towers' and 'Return of the King' for the umpteenth time... 8)

Dawn of day, cool morning breeze
Unfurls banners, snapping high;
Sunlight glints off shields, no ease,
Helms speak a silent war cry.
Jingle of tack, stamp of hoof,
Farewells are spoken, thouqh brief;
Voice lifts in song, none aloof,
The duty accepted in lief.
A neigh, a cry, the sounding horn,
And pursuit begins anew;
With spear and bow, on promise sworn,
In a blink, all gone from view.

That is great! That should be the song Pippin sings to Denethor in the RotK! It so fits perfectly! Better than the one he sings in the movie!
