That's what you have to do. We have to understand that bands change. People change, and people are what make bands. Therefore, the music in bands will change. When I thought about it, the Open Door wasn't worse than Fallen. It was just different. I like what Amy Lee said too, and she's right. Evanescence makes music. Not everyone's going to like it. It's that way for every band. What matters is that they were happy with it and they feel like they got their message out there the way they wanted to.
As for Good Enough, the first time I heard it, I was....... in a bad mood... so I was thinking "Ack! Happiness! :yuck: " But then.... something happened in my life. On one day. And suddenly the song completely applied to my life. I could relate to every word. It was amazing. And then...... reality set in. I didn't relate to it anymore. But for one day, I listened to that song over and over, always singing it to a certain person in mind... Now, I still like it, and I can still relate to certain parts of it, but I know better than to hope that I'm "good enough." I really just like it because for one whole day it was my song for him...
Thanks for the welcomes guys. And Hi Eariel! I'm glad to see you haven't left us just yet.

Sweet, TT. I suppose you didn't talk about Frodo or Lij, so--- I know what you mean. :)

Well, Good Enough was the song that caught my attention first when I listened to The Open Door first. Well, you have to know that I have a quite strange habit of listening to a new CD. I can't wait to get to know all of the songs, I want them all at one time, so I kinda skip from one song to another, just listening to the first 30 seconds of every one to know what it is about. And sometimes one song catches my interest so strongly that I listen to the whole thing and don't go on. so that's exactly what happened with Good Enough.
I'm often quite a pessimist, but I can't listen to something that is depressing all the time. And I was like: Evanescence do sound good with happier songs, and so the song remained one of my favourites ever.

Sorry for the rant. :P

Well, FF, I have the same habit when I'm listening to new CDs, so you're not alone with it. :P And that's why the intros of "Good Enough" and "Lithium" caught my attention as well and made me listen to them completely. And I love these two songs so much. :)

But I love the open door. I was kind of disapointed by it at first, then I watched an interview with Amy lee and she said something that made alot of scence to me.

She said that alot of people are not going to like the CD, because they are expecting it to be just like "Fallen" and its going to disapoint them because its not. Then she said that (I quote) "But to me it doesnt matter if they dont like it, because its my album. If they dont like it, that's their dicision."

I thought that was soooo evanescencey of her. The rebeliousness of it. lol But after that, i listened to it, and stopped comparing it too fallen. and it completely changed my view on it.

Yeah, when you read through the reviews people posted about "The Open Door" at amazon.com, you'll recognize that most people say that they don't like the album, because they always compare it to "Fallen" or that they didn't like it when they listened to it for the first time, but later started loving the music.
For me it was all a bit different. I heard "The Open Door" first of all (as I mentioned on the last page ;) ) and loved it at once. Before I only knew My Immortal and Bring Me To Life, so I decided to buy "Fallen" as well. From my point of view, the two CDs are completely different from each other, but I can't say that one of them disappointed me in any way. I love them both! :)

When I get a new CD, I listen to all the songs all the way through, unless I don't like the sound of one in the first few seconds. Then, I listen to the CD pretty much obsessively until I know all the words to all of the songs and/or I get tired of it. So far, I know all the words to the Open Door, except for the three songs I don't like that much, but I've been listening to it for almost two weeks straight and I have yet to get tired of it. I think it's because I'm going through a period where I really relate to their songs right now. So they're all I really want to listen to.
No Forever... I didn't mean Frodo or Lij, as I've never met either of them. It was..... someone else. Someone I know.
But yes. Evanescence. They're very addictive it seems. With other CDs, I get tired of them in a few days. But on Monday, I'll have had the CD for two weeks and I'll have listened to pretty much the entire CD every day.
It's really nice to be able to come on here and talk with so many other evanescence fans. None of my RL friends like them. I used to have one friend who did, but she....got a boyfriend actually and doesn't talk to me anymore. So it's cool to be able to come on here and talk to you guys about my ideas and feelings about Evanescence.

I know what you mean.I'm lucky to have a cousin who likes them, but most of the time she and i are on opposite ends of the country. It's very sad. :( But anyway, it struck me as funny that you listen to a cd 'obsessively' until you know all the words or get tired of it, because i do that too! :P It's just so annoying not to be able to remember them when you feel like singing the song to yourself. ;) As to Ev-songs reminding you of people you know, there's a boy in our church whom My Immortal makes me think of. We've been friends ever since we were little, but his family had to leave for a year at one point (his dad was attending pastor's college). Over that time, i realized how truly important this friend is to me. They're back now, but they've moved to a city that, while not too far away, is somewhat of a distance away. They'll still be coming regularly to this church for awhile, but (as i remember) it may taper down after a while. But i don't wish they'd "just leave' if they 'have to leave'--even tho it can be a bit painful, i'm glad for the extra time with them.
Anyway, i've been listening to Evanescence's earlier songs on youtube, and thoroughly enjoying myself. :P (If anyone should wish to do likewise, here is a site that tells all the lyrics, and of course the titles, by which i would recommend searching rather than just 'evanescence' in general or something like that.

http://www.azlyrics.com/e/evanescence.html) Two of my faves are Even in Death and Anywhere. They remind me of you-know-who (at least, you do if you know me). *glances at siggy 'inconspicuously'* :P Also, have any of you seen this video of Lithium? It's so beautiful... I didn't know they had made one of my favorite song on Open Door!

Also, there's a well-made lotr vid set to lithium...here it is...

^Glad I'm not the only one. :P
I think the spell finally ended a little while ago, but there are still some days where I just need to listen to Evanescence. Yesterday was one of those days in fact.
That's really sweet that you have a friend like that Eariel. I hope that everything works out and you guys don't have to be apart. I know how hard that can be.
Thank you so much for posting those videos! I didn't know there was a video for Lithium either, but I loved it. It was beautiful. Doesn't it just make you want to be Amy Lee? I love the parts where it looks like she's underwater. A very good video set to also one of my favorite songs.
That LOTR vid was amazing as well. The picture quality wasn't that great on my computer, but the message and the music still came through. I loved it. Once again, thanks for sharing.
I don't know a lot of Evanescence before Fallen. I think I shall have to change that. I know a place where I can do that. Let's see what I can find.....

Speaking of places where you can find them, I wanted to show you a couple of 'behind-the-scences' (i guess you'd call them) videos of Evanescence. The first ones called Evanescence bloopers...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=R-pj1zJPVkY

Also there's one called Evanescence--Life on the Road Pt. 1. (I'm not sure where Pt. 2 is...)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ii4LtPKRoZk& ... ed&search=

They're each nice and long...

Also, there's a page of quizzes I found, many of which have to do with Evanescence (i.e. What song are you, etc.)

http://www.mystera.blogspot.com/

This page is hugely long... So the more you scroll down, the more you'll find I guess.
