Quite fine --- we were in a middle of a discussion; would you like to contribute?

It's sad how people can't cope with their past (even if it's world history). Why can't we confess and say it rather than be -omgwesodidntdothat- all the time?? Fake faces everywhere I look ... (lol ignore that)

You're right, Antigone --- there are people out there that won't believe some of the things that had happened. For example, some Europeans are still denying that the Holocaust occurred.

Yeah, we're having a problem similar to that in Slovenia, we've had lots of people killed because of Nazis and people like that and our politicians refuse to blieve it. Sad world, mad world.

its like they dont want to admit it because it makes them look bad. but seriously, it almost looks worse if they deny it after it happened. i wish some people would be more repsonsible for their actions and fess up to when they made mistakes.

^Agreed. Saying "I was wrong" or "I need help" or even "my ancestors were wrong" can be really, really hard, but it's right. If you try to hide what has happened, you won't learn from it... which would be horrible, because really, when these terrible things happen the least we could do would be to learn from what happens. Also, when we hide things... they just seem to grow and cause more trouble in the end.

Good question. People just don't want to remember bad times such as that. It might cause them pain, bring back bad memories, or it might just have been a time that made their family or country look bad.
I like what Kitoky said about some Europeans completely denying the fact that the Holocaust happened. As humans we just don't want to blame ourselves and say that 'Yes, we did this even though we knew it would be wrong.' It's just the way our mind works I guess.
However, if people keep denying things like that, it's sure to happen again later down the road.

i agree that its really hard to admit that your ancestors or country was wrong in their actions. i have a hard time admitting when i made a simple mistake. to admit something huge like the terrors of the nazis would be way harder! but i respect those who do recognize that their country was wrong, i know its tough to do, but like you said....hiding things will only make matters worse.

I went there a couple of months ago, and all my relatives there were really angry/ disappointed in the polititians, because they wouldn't accept some of the things that happened a while ago. (I know this is random, but I loved Slovenia! It was soooo pretty, and isolated, and countryside-ish! And there were so many villages... very different to Australia. ) Quote: i agree that its really hard to admit that your ancestors or country was wrong in their actions. i have a hard time admitting when i made a simple mistake. to admit something huge like the terrors of the nazis would be way harder! but i respect those who do recognize that their country was wrong, i know its tough to do, but like you said....hiding things will only make matters worse.
I agree as well. As an Australian, I find it really horrible how some people just don't get what the first settlers did to the Aboriginies. The Government only apologised 10-15 years ago!
But now that the government have accepted that it happened, people also dwell on it. And I find that extremely annoying. So there are extremes in some cases... people either can't accept it, or they accept it a bit too much.

Yayy you went to Slovenia! Lots of countryside, agree. Verrry lovely xD
(kill our prime minister ... kill him ... nice to rant about our politics, noone here has a clue about 'em )
Sorry for offtopicing...
Well I'm too proud to seek help. Always. I prefer looking stupid over helpless ... I just can't help it. But I do say sorry. Too much, and people get annoyed by that

But do you know where it's located?
No offence... it just makes me a bit irritated that people don't know where it lies lol
