Naidele was shoved roughly and she began walking. She glared at the half demons as they herded her and her companions along. She noticed Khienro trying to get closer to her. When he did, she listened to his lecture with her chin held up stubbornly. She knew he was right. It had been stupid, but she didn't want to submit meekly. She wanted to make her enemies believe that she was still strong and defiant. Still, it had been stupid. She opened her mouth to sullenly admit she had been wrong, but one of their captors forcefully pushed Khienro to the other side of the group. As much as Naidele wanted to furiously scream at the half demon, she held her tongue, recalling Khienro's words. She tried to move closer to him again so they could continue their conversation, but there was a large half demon on either side of her blocking her way.

(I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go with this... Any ideas? I really don't want it to die.)

((I was thinking they'd take us to wherever the fortress is, Okandar might try to get information from the Keepers and after a bit we can escape and do whatever, kill Okandar and such, seeing as we'd already be inside. Cause being captive is always fun ))

Will be going to London on March of the 30th

They were all shoved and prodded to the center of camp, where an enormous bonfire at least fifty feet in height was sending great columns of black smoke into the just brightening dawn. Chanting in a guttural language, the half-demons formed a semi-circle around them.

"Keepers... Keepers... Keepers..."

Again Orindil felt the urge to stand in front of Nakaida, and just as he made the move, the bonfire seemed to explode! All manner of hellish apparitions were sent from the dancing flames in great waves. Laughing maniacally, they swooped and pecked at the prisoners.

A shadowy form indefinite in shape moved behind the bonfire. Suddenly the flames exploded yet again, and out leaped a fully fledged fire demon! Standing on its hindlegs, its infernal canine face twisted into a sneer, the giant creature raised its horned head and howled to the skies.

"KEEPERS! FEEL THE POWER OF LORD OKANDAR!"

Nakaida shrank from the unearthly creature, feeling as a trapped animal might with nowhere to turn. She pressed closer to Orindil, eyes wide in fright, longing to turn tail and run but with nowhere to go.

A feeble breath of air stirred the flames, making barely a difference, and she clenched her teeth. Was that the best she could do? Was that all she could come up with, after training for years?

Another, stronger gust played for a moment with the bonfire before vanishing. Nakaida stood straighter, still pale but with a determined glint in her eyes. If the opportunity arose she would show this demon that Keepers were not ineffective toys. She whispered a word and the fire shrank slightly, oxygen from the air around it removed at Nakaida's whim. Another and it shrank noticeably - but almost instantly roared back to full strength. Nakaida drew a shaky breath. She could not hold the fire down for long, but perhaps it might be enough at the opportune moment.

When the demon had exploded out of the fire, Khienro's eyes widened as they shot up to see the firey creture. Without thinking, he found himself passing his oblivious, now-chanting escorts over to Naidele. Standing in front of her, he felt the need to protect her... But, not for the reasons he had originally promised... Shaking it off, he realized that infact, he shouldn't need to protect her, after all, her being the fire keeper, she probably had more control over this, but... Then again, the human heart cannot change, fear is an installed part of life.

Naidele uttered a small cry when the fire exploded in front of them. She put her hands in front of her face, a feeble attempt to ward off the heat of the flames. Then suddenly Khienro was in front of her. If she hadn't been so frightened she might have smiled. It was so kind of him to want to protect her. She pressed herself closer to him, seeking comfort in his presence.
She tried to calm herself down so she could think. She should be able to do something about this. Fire was her Element. She thrust out her hands and tried to force the fire down. But even as she quelled it a little bit, it sprang back up. She looked over at Nakaida, and she could tell by the look of concentration on her face that she was also trying to stop the raging fire. Naidele took a deep breath and used all of the power she could muster in another attempt to stop the fire. It worked better than her first attempt. The roaring flames shrank down almost to nothingness, but an instant later they leapt up again. All the exertion made her feel weak. Her knees trembled with the effort.

Nakaida flung her arm up to ward off the grasping talons of a leering shadow-beast, and the fire flared even higher. "Stop," she gasped to Naidele, realizing that the huge fire was the least of their problems. "The fire demon! We need to stop him!"

Naidele managed to straighten herself when she realized she was leaning against Khienro for support. She lowered her hands. She was still gasping for breath from all the power she was using.
"But how?" she asked Nakaida, feeling helpless. She usually created fire to fix her problems. She hadn't dealt with a fire she couldn't handle since she was a child, first learning the ways of being a Keeper. She had no idea what to do about this huge fire demon.

"Don't know," gasped Nakaida, her eyes fixed on the terrifying apparition. "Stay away from it! As long as you can!"

"STAY AWAY?!" the demon roared incredulously. Maniacal laughter echoed through the forest, and the half-demons, eager to please the highest of Okandar's dark hierarchy, joined in. It took a step closer, shaking and charring the ground with each titanic step. Those trees that had the misfortune of coming into his contact burst into flames and crumbled to dust.

"Foul creature of the abyss," Orindil breathed, holding his hand up as if to ward it away, for all the good it would do.

Again the laughter resounded. "My lord Okandar commands me to take you to him!" It waved an infernal talon, and a flaming cage materialized behind it. The iron door slid open tauntingly, invitingly. "After you."

The half-demons crowded in behind them, prodding them on.

Nakaida flung out a hand, and with a word the air around the flaming demon became almost deplete of oxygen. She knew very well it would do nothing, but her pride shouted in outrage at submitting without a fight of any sort. Almost unconsciously, she clutched Orindil's arm tight - as though somehow he might protect her. The flaming cage beckoned.

Khienro walked steadily, however unwilling and disturbed he was, when he noticed that Naidele seemed to be leaning on him. Looking over he noticed that she looked strangly pale and void of much energy. Lending her his arm, he looked over at the ever growing fire demon. He leaned in to whisper in her ear. He then, with his good arm that he had been supporting her with, grabbed her shoulder, more forcefully than he would have wished, but adrenaline was coursing through him now.

"Naidele, I want you and your sister to run - now! Orindil, Aeryn and I will cover you just-" He stopped talking as the firey beast infront of them flared higher than ever before. "Go! Now! Your powers arn't doing anything, and they won't. All you're doing is draining your energy. The world can't afford to lose you now."
