It seems out of the norm but maybe that's a good thing. I'm sure it's going to be an amazing book.

"hallows" could refer to the four hallows of Aurthurian legend which are intimately connected to the grail and ultimately go back to the four treasures of Tuatha de Danann of Irish myth. The four hallows are the cup [chalice], the baton [wand], the sword [dagger], and the penticle. If we connect the 4 remaining horcruxes [Hufflepuff cups, Ravenclaw wand, Gryffindor sword, and Slytherin locket] to these elements of magic then we can ultimately assume that "deathly hallows" is indeed refering to the remaining horcruxes. Just thought I'd share that with everyone.
That's a really good theory. To be honest, I haven't really thought about it.
I thought that Hallows = Saints (one of its meanings anyway)

Hey, that's cool! And really intelligent. I can't believe think of things like that. If I try thinking of things like that, my brain explodes. *hides*
I don't know what to think of the title - it sounds morbid, but I expect the book will be slightly morbid as well, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
I suspect that the title will have something to do with the climax of the story... if only because what JK said about what she was writing at the same time the title was released implies that is what she is writing the climax or whatever, hence I thought there probably is a connection...

That's a wicked theory. Brilliant! I love it.
But watch us be entirely wrong. xD And JKR completely throws us off.
Mundungus were selling old family goblets from the House of Black in book 6. It is possible they were the 'cups'.

But didn't Dumbledore tell Harry he was sure that the sword of Gryffindor wasn't a Horcrux?
On Mugglenet, I read this really interesting essay on the identity of R.A.B. I can post the link if anyone else wants to read it, I found it pretty convincing.

It is possible that we have another 'sword' that exists possibly in the Ministry of Magic or in a safe elsewhere...
Hmmm RAB. The most popular theory is Sirius's brother, Regulus [middle name not yet clarified but possibly named after Sirius's great uncle or something] Black. It's a bit far-fetched, and I don't think that JK Rowling would go in that direction but I think Regulus has something to do with it.

Regulus is actually who my bet is on.
I remember talking with someone about this who said in OotP, Harry is shown a locket in Grimmauld place that was found when cleaning out. Weren't they unable to open it, too? I should look this up myself, but of course I haven't gotten around to it...

I'm having an argument with my friend right now about the difference between ghosts and portraits. Ugh, I know he's just arguing for the sake of it. Ghosts and portraits are not basically the same!

We don't actually know when it's coming out yet. And considering the movie's coming on on July 13th/07, I'm betting on a late summer or fall release.

I don't think it'll come out on 07/07 because that's the aniversary of the London bombings. I doubt JKR would want to take over that day in such a big way. Plus I kind of doubt it'll be ready in time. Does anyone know how long it takes for a book to be published after it's been written?

Yup I think that's right. It's described as a heavy locket none of them could open. Hopefully they didn't just throw it out if it is a horcrux

I think the time-length depends on how much editing is done after the story is finished, and how much editing the author does before they submit it to their editor. I remember reading an author saying that it they'd spend almost a year (or was it six months?) rewriting and drafting before they'd even show it to their editor. I'd guess around the six months to a year mark, but I honestly have no idea.
I'd be guessing Sirius's brother as RAB, too...

Wouldn't RAB have destroyed the horcrux, though? Then it wouldn't matter if they threw it out. (what happens to wizard trash, anyway?) I can't really imagine this person taking the locket and just letting it lie around, still a horcrux...Dumbledore wore the ring after destroying the horcrux, so maybe that's what this fellow did.

This is semi interesting, i really dont want JKR to get richer becuase i bought the book but thats beside the point. It does seem interesing, the name threw me off, its not a name i've come to register as something she would call one of her books...but it is good to see that it finally has a name...

Well, he probably used a spell like Dumbledore used on the ring -- the ring itself is still around, but Dumbledore took Voldy's soul out of it, I guess. So then it wouldn't really matter if it was thrown out...
Here's the essay if anyone's interested.

I never thought of that. Why would he take it if he wasn't going to destroy it? Unless he didn't know how.
