Sorry, Aerandir and I got into a brief comic book discussion.

Which is okay, since this is the X-men fanclub.

Gambit and Cyclops, brothers? I never would have guessed that there was even that possibility. wow.

Yeah it was way back. Trying to remember the actual story that was running at the time, but it escapes me. But I can see the panel in my head vividly. Scott is in Alaska and his neighbour reveals himself to be Sinister. Then after a bit of a set to, Sinister mentions subtly another brother which Scott picked up on right away and questioned him about it. To which Sinister replied "Did I say brothers? I meant brother"

People started trying to figure it out, and since Sinister had a deep interest in Gambit, it was assumed that he would be revealed to be the missing Summers brother. But it wasn't to be, and the whole story revolving around Vulcan was pretty contrived. I'd have preferred it to be Gambit and I'm not a huge fan of him tbh.


My new banner..that's Caprica/Six from Battlestar Galactica. I couldn't sleep last night, so I made some banners/icons and a Caprica wallpaper.

Some friends of mine are fans of Gambit, but he gets on my nerves a lot. Especially Ultimate Gambit.

This was a bit before Age of Apocalypse. If I remember right it was written by Chris Claremont and penciled by Jim Lee. If my comics weren't all boxed I'd be able to find it and be more specific. Ahh, it's gonna bug me now till I remember lol

I can't explain Gambit's popularity at all. That being said, he should have been in the movies, X3 at the very least. Maybe if they actually do a fourth we may get to see the ragin' cajun and hopefully swoop in and take Rogue away from Iceman. Not a fan of that pairing at all, even though the whole thing with them and Kitty was inspired by the Ultimate universe.

Lol, you're lucky to have the comics. I'm pretty sure they don't have X-men (or any Marvel) comics over here. Which means everything I learn I learn online, like on Wikipedia or something.

Yeah, those friends of mine who are fans of Gambit were *kind* of annoyed that he wasn't in X3.

Collecting comics is an expensive hobby. I rely now on Trade Paper Back's from Amazon or Ebay to keep me going. I'm about 6 months behind now, but it satiates my need lol.

I wasn't annoyed that he wasn't in the movie. But as a popular character he did deserve to be there. Though considering how little they gave Angel, Multiple Man and Colossus in the movies, I'm glad they left him out.
Rogue and Iceman as a couple just bothers me.

Ditto, there. Rogue & Iceman should not be together. Though I don't know if I like the idea of Iceman & Shadowcat together, either.

I really wish that they had given Colossus and Angel more time in the movie--I was really looking forward to seeing the two of them, and then they ended up having like fifty seconds of screen time combined.

He was with both in Ultimates. Which is cool, for that universe. Not for the movie..Rogue should be alone or with Gambit.

Colossus and Angel should have had way more time. Geesh, Colossus only spoke like one line and Angel just wasn't developed enough as a character and was a bit too..and I hate to use this term but, Emo.
Angel was a spoilt rich kid playboy.

I need to stop getting so nit picky. It makes me sound like a don't like the movies and I love them all so much.

Lol. I know the feeling. I loved the movies, I'm just annoyed at the screentime--or lack thereof--that Colossus and Angel got. They're some of the coolest characters. Plus, I really like Colossus in the movies.

I think I read the first Ultimates comic that Gambit appears in. I'm pretty sure I did. He kidnapped Rogue after Rogue and Kitty got in a fight over Bobby, right?

I think so yeah. I know Bobby cheated on Rogue and after a while she left with Gambit after falling for him.

Kind of a switch in discussion, but does Cable ever get cured of his virus? I've read up on him a lot (he's the son of Madelyne and Scott, which makes him cool), but I've never figured out whether he is ever permanently cured.

As far as I'm aware no, Cable doesn't lose the technovirus. It's a shame, because if he had his full power he would be phenomenal. I do like him a lot though, his comic with Deadpool is very good. Deadpool is borderline genius in terms of comedy.

Lol--I've wanted to read a Deadpool comic for a long time. I've heard he repeatedly breaks the Fourth Wall.

That's a shame that Cable never cures that--it'd be awesome if he managed it. Same with Scott and his mental block. Cable and Cyclops at their full potential. That'd be awesome. I wonder if Scott would be counted as an Omega-level mutant?
