Think about it, if the soldiers died, how can Isildur and Elrond survived? They are JUST near Sauron, right?
But I think the Gondorian's armor is a bit ugly, isn't it?

Movie/Book discrepancy: When Gandalf reads the scoll of Isildur in the movie, it reads 3434 SA, in the Tale of Years in the book it says that Sauron was defeated in 3441 SA.
More Gil-Galad, Elendil, Isildur, Anárion, and the whole Second Age war against Sauron.
As for this being a descrepancy, it isn't. Gandalf said Sauron was defeated in SA 3434. Sauron and his army in the Tale of Years was defeated in SA 3434 in the Battle of Dagorlad. It then says the seige of Barad Dur begins. So for the next 7 years, the armies of the LAst Alliance had Barad Dur surrounded until Sauron himself came forth from the fortress. this was in the year SA 3441 when Isildur cut the ring from the hand of Sauron. The 'shockwave' was the spirit of Sauron 'passing away' I guess, which ironicly was similar to when the Ring was destroyed. The difference is betwen the terms defeated & overthrown.

I like the battle of the last alliance, there should have been more of it. I had hoped there would be more on the extented edition, but there unfortunately there isn't.
I also wanted to see more of Gil-galad, because I think him very interesting, though Tolkien didn't write that much about him.

Did anyone else notice that Sauron is next to the cliff in the close-up, but when he explodes he is in the middle of the feild. NOWHERE near the cliff. Just thought I'd point that out. The elven armor is cool too and I wish I could find some to buy.

I really doubt all of the surviving elves died, but it does give that impression though I think people were right by saying it was just a shock wave and they all just got knocked over.
