Well, I wouldn't say guys don't care --- even on gentlemen's, they still have grooming habits, just not as much as girls.
Seriously guys, can't we have a serious and productive conversation on a topic?

Well you can relate horses to being a girl --- maybe you speculate that girls tend to look at horseriding as more of a stress reliever and you may speculate that girls/women ride horses more than guys now as opposed to the 16th-17th centuries.

I wonder what inspired the change from having women ride side-saddle to the way people ride now.

I think that nowadays, guys are looked down on, especially young boys or teenagers, because horse-back riding is considered a "girl's" sport. I however don't agree. I know that some of the best riders in the world are male, and I think as society has changed through the years, so has the perception of what gender should ride. I think as women gained more independence and more rights, they began to do more things that men did, including horse-back riding. I also think that back in the 16th-17th centuries, horses and riding was essential for men for tranportation and an aid in battle. Since our technology has improved, men no longer need horses for transportation or battle.
Sorry for my long post....

^^Eru who?
^Hmm...I never heard people call it a women's sport. At my friend's arena they think it's a man's sport.

Good post Linwe, but don't apologize. If we needed to apologize for every post over 3 lines, a lot of us might as well put a permanent apology for exisiting in our signature
Miluiel, I think women figured out it was too inconvenient to ride a side-saddle, especially when they started to wear pants just like men.
I never thought of horseback riding as being typical a male or female sport. I used to read every horse magazine and book on horses, in fact I think I knew everything about horses at some point - but only in theory, because I never got to do much actual horseback riding.. *sigh*
...and the best riders I have heard of are male...
