I took a teeny tiny bit of horseback riding when i was really little and it was a lot of fun, but I don't know anything about the culture, as it were. To me it sounds like something anyone could do, male or female. I think (i may be wrong) that horseback riding is the only event in the Olympics where both men and women can compete against each other. That sounds pretty fair to me..

I've been riding since I was about 11, and I've never known any guys to ride. I'm sure they're out there, but I've never run into any of them. From my experience, it's mostly just all girls, although I don't know if you could call it a female-dominated sport. I think that would be stretching it, since I'm sure that there are plenty of guys out there that do ride. Like I said, I've just never encountered them.

It's not as fun as some people make it out to be, trust me. Horses aren't very nice.

I'm not a fan of horses. Animals in general really. I've never ridden a horse, nor do I want to.

I agree with Eru, horses are such amazing creatures. Not all of them are mean! Take my horse for instance she is the sweetest mare ever! I dont see how people could think horses are mean. :( I wouldnt be able to live without horses! And I most definatly think that horseback riding is a female dominated sport :)

I love horses and everything to do with them!
I think that horseback riding as a sport is equal. I have seen both men and women compete.

Were I live its mostly females, but the men who do ride tend to be pretty good. In high level eventing there are lots of men, but there are some women, so I think it's equale.

I would disagree. Just like any animal, some are nice and some aren't. It depends on the person and whether or not they find it entertaining. I personally do.
