I was referring to the surgery and such, Caunion--it doesn't go very well with the plot if the Gohl actually can be expelled from a person they have possessed.

-------------

With a shrug, Feyl decided that the Bekaran didn't seem to believe that there really was no cure yet. There was no way to pull a Gohl's spirit out of the host body. The paralyzing agent would simply incapacitate the person for a little while, and then everyone else would be convinced that the Gohl had been driven out after the surgery, not realizing that it was still there.

Hearing Garex's blunt request, though, Feyl smiled. "Yes, you may leave now. Tommorrow we will meet at the palace stables at first light, and depart."

He and Dorlan left the room then, traversing the stone palace, passing along sunlit corridors, until they reached their own suite. It was fairly large and luxurious, considering that he was leaving on a trip the next day from which he almost certainly would not be returning. Dorlan stayed in the antechamber of the suite, where his cot was, but Feyl continued into the main living area, where there was a comfortable chair he could sit in.

Muttering a quick spell, Feyl waved his hand, and the magical lamps in the room lit, their steady light filling the room and blending beautifully with the sunlight from the two narrow windows. Sitting back in the armchair, Feyl planned.

Eshtok stood as the meeting was dismissed. He took careful note of when they would meet next, and strode out into the halls to find his room.

Marvilan made a hidden sound of disgust. Magicians he thought. Think they know everything just because they can speak a couple of harsh words. And I suppose they're working their little minds to exorcise the Gohl out. Then he heard the man, Feyl or whatever, mention meeting at the stables and nearly laughed out loud. Seriously he thought. Horses weren't still used as modes of transportation, were they? Bekarans haven't used horses for transportation for nearly a millennium, though some do still ride horses for recreational purposes. Marvilan sadly was not one of those. He got here from his aeroengine and he planned to use that instead of the poor animals they would have to burden. He exited the room. He had gotten to a deserted corner of the building when a shrill alarm could be heard. It was coming from his earpiece (which essentially is a telephone). He pressed a button on it and heard Dr. Bardenian, the leading doctor on the Gohl operation, on it.
"Marvilan, this is important," the doctor said urgently. "You haven't told those people about the surgery,"
"Actually I did," Marvilan replied. "Was there something wrong?"
"Yes, I think so. We managed to capture another one today. We operated on him but the bloke died as soon as the robots finished."
"What? How?"
"We're still trying to find out. Anyways tell them that the surgery doesn't work."
"I told them about the first one."
"Yes, well, this one for some reason died instantly while it took the other one two days."
"I thought it was suicide."
"That's what we thought, too. Listen you have to tell them it doesn't work. For some reason, upon extermination, the Gohl issue a suicidal order to all of the cells. Apoptosis, if you will. Perhaps, the Gohl is unwilling to allow their host to survive. We shouldn't give them false hopes."
"I'm pretty sure I didn't. Not to the cursed magicians anyways. So as a last will, the Gohl commands all of the cells to commit suicide?"
"Yes, I'm pretty sure."
"What do the Gohls look like when they begin to infect people."
"I don't know. The people that have seen them are unavailable to questioning."
"Didn't we interrogate that guy?"
"Yes, we did. But he didn't answer half of our questions. Look, I have to run a couple of more checks. I just wanted to tell you this. Keep in touch. I'll send information as you go about on this quest."
The line went dead. Marvilan sighed. He knew the magicians would spend years, gloating over this mistake. He resigned telling them the news tomorrow morning. He returned to his assigned quarters, which given to their apparent lack of technology, was fairly comfortable. He sighed and began setting up a small-fusion powered generator, that made up one part of his luggage. The other packages were an armour repairing kit, a whetstone to sharpen his blades, extra ammunitions, an extra oxygen tank, an extra pair of eyes, the paralysing agents, hydrogen fuel cells to power his generator, and two back-up batteries in case of an EMP blast. He doubted that the magicians would know about electromagnetic blasts, though.

(There you have it. The panacea is flawed.)

Gwyria, who frankly had no intention of getting possessed by a Gohl, found the discussion between several of her to-be companions a stultifyingly boring one. She slipped out the instant Feyl told them they could depart, she did so - a diminutive figure trotting down various halls until reaching her own apartments, which (like Gwyria herself) were quite small.

((Hmmm, has anyone seen Nienna Undome about lately? She's Gwyria's guardian, and she doesn't seem to have posted in quite some time))

Karina left, yawning. She wanted to get to bed straight away because she had a feeling this was going to be her last night of real sleep.

Thanks, Caunion. :)

Okay, I don't know if LDM wanted to post anything in particular with Aedhon and Garex, so I'll give her a few hours to post. If she doesn't have anything planned, then we'll just skip to the next day.

(Skipping to the next day?)
Marvilan woke up the next day at least fifteen minutes before light break. He packed all of his stuff. For all of their bulk, they were fairly lightweight. He touched a few buttons on each of his baggage, which allowed them to levitate with jet pack mechanisms. He lead them through a remote control towards his aeroengine.

Nolani woke just as the coming of day lit the horizon a pale grey. She rose to find Threng already dressed and packed. "I'm late" She murmured and struggled to her feet. She looked around for her things to pack but found none. Threng held up a pack. "I've packed for you." He smiled. Nolani smiled back. Threng was so kind hearted. It was hard to belive that he could ever be a warrior, but she had seen it proven. Once she had dressed (at which point Threng politely turned away) they headed down to the stables. By then the sun had just barely poked her head above the horizon.

Xaviera opened her eyes. Time to leave. She and Miniya packed quickly and walked down to the stables.

Marvilan walked towards a small deserted area away from the building they were in, where his aeroengine laid. He commanded his packages to pile neatly inside the aeroengine's truck. He inspected his truck space. Though he acquired a small model, the truck could hold up to 250 rocks (about two pounds or a kilogram) and still maintain its ability to fly. He went to the driver's seat door and pulled a needle that was attached to the door. He inserted it inside a hole that went into his biological body. The needle began to read his genetic information before confirming it was Marvilan and not a potential aeroengine thief. The door opened, allowing Marvilan to enter and type in the numerical code which would turn on the engine. The craft began to levitate eight feet from the ground, before zooming towards the stables.

Eshtok woke early, before dawn, out of habit. He quickly dressed, ate something, and grabbed his already-packed bag. He didn't carry much with him, and most of it he was already wearing. He checked his weapons, then hurried outside. After asking a servant for directions, he found the stables. Several of the group were already there.

Marvilan landed the aeroengine near the stables, after making sure a clear space was created. He turned off the engine, got out, and leaned against his engine, waiting for them.

Karina woke up. "Dang, I'm late." She said and hurried to get dressed. She had packed the night earlier but she still had to hurry if she wanted to make it on time. She dressed in black leggings, knee high boots, and a blue cotton thigh length dress. She secured her sword and hilt on a belt and tightened it on her hips. She grabbed her luggage and jacket and hurried off to the stables.

Long before first light, Feyl was awake, not that he ever had fallen asleep. All through the long night he had contemplated the imminent journey. What were the chances it would succeed? The people chosen to accompany him did not seem the type that he would've chosen for a band of heroes. An infamous and bungling mage, a haughty and proud Bekaran, several simple Laude, a few humans, and a short and imperious mage who seemed to look down on everyone. This would be difficult, at the least.

Rising to his feet from where he had sat in the padded chair, he walked quietly out into the antechamber, where Dorlan already was waiting with their two packs.

Normally, Kor'daera spoke with their Guardians, but a rare few, such as Feyl, had read an ancient spellbook with one particularly useful spell--it established a connection between the caster and the target. It could only be used on one person, at least while they were alive, but it linked them--their minds, their strengths, and more. Certainly they did not share the same thoughts, but they could send them telepathically to each other. They always knew where the other was, and strong emotions. The latter could be somewhat embarassing at times, but its bonuses were greater than its negative aspects.

What has happened while I meditated? Feyl thought at Dorlan.

Somehow, it was possible to recognise who was talking to you. It was as though you could hear their voice, instead of just sharing their thoughts. Truly remarkable, whatever it was.

The Bekaran has taken his Aeroengine near the stables, judging from the noise, Dorlan thought back, his gruff manner of speaking evident in his thoughts. His disapproval, too.

Feyl shared that opinion--the Aeroengine would not be permissible. A quarantine had been set upon the area where the Gohl were setting up camp. No high-class technology was allowed within it, because if the Gohl obtained it, they would be able to spread out much faster; to be more specific, faster than the defending forces could cope with.

We will have to inform him that he will be riding a horse once we get there, Feyl thought as he stepped through the doorway.

They had less of a distance to go this time, since there was a stairwell near their suite that led to the ground not far distant from the stables. It was tiring, but it didn't take as long as the long passageways and ramps elsewhere.

Reaching the bottom, Feyl basked in the sight of Kor'da'this' chief palace. The home of the Archmage--the ruler of the Kor'daera--it was the grandest place on this plane, even more so than the humans' capitol fortress of Nilyne. It was a remarkable place, however little the Bekaran regard for it was.

Marvilan started pacing back and forth, waiting for them. He then saw one of the Kor'daera who looked at his engine with disapproval. "What?" he asked him. "Is it illegal to fly one of these things?"
"Yes actually it is. The Gohl might take possession of it and use it against us."
"Against you? The Gohl has already infected Bekarans and taken control of their aeroengines. I'm pretty sure even you would know how to destroy an aeroengine. And the fact that a disembodied person can operate a machine like this. You're ridiculous. All of you."

(Honestly, how can a disembodied entity operate a machine? You might as well say a ghost or a wraith can drive a car or an airplane.)
