^*totally agrees with Aerandir*
and you still have the same map for Eldest and the same charries, so if they were in Eragon, their in Eldest and therefore, they are still plagurized

Pretty much everything is copied from something else.
That would be like if I went around and cut up other books, then glued all the little pieces together and published it.

Aaah! Everyone's ganging up on me!
Well, Eragon copying from Star Wars would explain why I didn't think it was copying anything: I've never seen it. I saw the end of the third one, and the beginning of the first old one (A New Hope?), but that's it. Oh well, I would still prefer Eragon to Star Wars, even if I did see it. I like medieval fantasy books better than Sci-fi.
I still must pose one argument, though: What about Roran? His leading the entire village of Carvahall through the mountains, into Teirm, and south on the sea hasn't been used in any story I can think of. Usually it's one person or a small group, but never an entire village that goes on a long quest to join a secret organization. If you're thinking it's like the fleeing to Helm's Deep from Edoras, it's not. They headed to Helm's Deep hoping to avoid the war, not join it. And it was headed up by King Theoden, (emphasis on the word "King") not a lowly farmer boy who had nothing and used to be an equal to the entire village.
Sorry for keeping this argument up, but if you like something, you have to stick up for it!
By the way, Dark, Queen of Angmar, I like your avatar and banner. Did you draw it yourself? If so, it must have taken you forever to draw all of those scales! (I like drawing, too, but I can't post my art on this website because my internet filter blocks most art host sites because a lot of them have not-so-decent pictures drawn by perverts on them, and in order to post art here you have to have posted it on an art host site beforehand.)

There is a story line similiar to Roran/Carvahall, but its a bunch of Elves and a Dragon fleeing South, but not on a river... but anyways, i praise CP because he thought of something original *applauds*
thank you, i did draw it, it actually didn't take that long to do the scales compared to many of my other drawings.

Sam_is_my_hero wrote: The book, to me, is the story of a boy and his dragon DONE RIGHT.
And Arya is NOT like Arwen except in appearance. According to the books, Arwen sits at home and makes a pretty flag for Aragorn while deciding whether or not to go to the grey havens. She shows up twice, once in the Fellowship, and once in the Return of the King. Throughout the entire story, she loves Aragorn with all her heart, which is a beautiful love story in the appendices.
Arya, on the other hand, fights in the battles, gets captured by the shade Durza, smashes the fairth painting Eragon makes of her, assists the Varden in many dangerous missions, tells Eragon NOT to pursue her in a relationship, nearly dies from poisoning, and helps consilodate the establishment of Nasuada as leader of the Varden after Ajihad's death. And that's just to name a few things.
As for the part about the 'boy and his dragon,' that's essentially all it is. A clueless boy and a dragon who seemingly knows everything even though she's only been alive for... what, a year?
And Arya is like a mix between Arwen and Eowyn. She reminds me of someone else, but I can't remember who.

Saphira dissapointed me... she had such potential, but shes just... not all there, shes too wise at the wrong times, and too stupid at the right times, i dont know what it is about her, but it bothers me... its like.. she has things to say, but are no help to anyone...

All the characters are like that, though.
Aargh-- I wish I knew who Arya is reminding me of.

what i've found is that the audience that actually really enjoyed Eragon is 8-12 years old, i've never actually heard or met an older person that really actually enjoyed it. I think that when youre younger you are more willing to fall into that space where you believe everything. And Eragon and Eldest are prime examples of that, you have two books that for an older reader, have far too many issues and coping and such like, they can see through the book. But younger readers, or those that are young and still like it, dont see through the transparencies... *shrugs* thats what i think.
and another thing, how is it that Eragon sould push Saphira's wing in so she didn't get carried away on that storm, but she could not? He's fifteen, and i highly doubt that a fifteen year old could push her wing in. She's a Dragon for goodness sake, she should be able to do it, or at least Brom should have helped, not in any way could of Eragon helped her, its too... unreal, and not in the good way...

I hate it when the main character is un-likeable. And unfortunately, Eragon is really un-likable.
And you're right, unless Eragon suddenly had super-strength, he shouldn't have been able to push Saphira's wing.

That's true. Still, I insist on being stubborn and liking the books even though I'm 17. Most of my friends like them, too.

It was like PotC to me; entertaining, but by no means good.

I think I can agree with you on that. Now that I think about it, Eragon is exactly like the bits of Star Wars I've heard about. Still, it's written well, even if it's not original. Hence a good read, but not necessarily entirely creative.

Very true.
And just fyi, Arya reminds me of the stereotypical Mary-Sue. That is in essence all that she is. I hate her.
I wouldn't say that Eragon was written well. If you think of the fact that a fifteen year old wrote it, then it's okay, but if you compare it to other fantasy books, it stinks. Big time. Maybe CP would have done well in RPGs and stuff, like on A-U, but he doesn't cut it as a fantasy author, IMHO.

Well, I think it's well written. Oh, well. Eragon will still be a good book in my mind. I've read worse before.
My cousin's writing a book trilogy, and since yall know more books and movies than I probably do, I'm going to give you the brief synopsis of the plot so I can make sure she isn't copying anything by accident. I'll submit it it for you on my next post, though, because I'm at school and don't have a lot of time before the bell rings, and it's a very complicated plot, so it will take a while for me to come up with a synopsis for it.

*evil cackle* We're going to say that she is copying every single movie and book in existence.
Seriously, though, I am willing to look over it.
