Haha, I tried to fit all my Stephen King books, Tolkien, and Narnia books on one shelf, but I couldn't. My Tolkien takes up most of the shelf.

I counted by books again and I think I have 289. I used to think I had too few books and hence went out of my way to accquire... a lot. One extreme to the other.
I was wondering, are most of the books you own new or secondhand. Did you buy them yourself or did someone give them to you?
I think the majority of mine I bought secondhand. OP shops are very useful things.

I love the smell of new books. They're all book-y.

I have just about everything in my house. My mom's an English professor.
[glances at 2 huge bookshelves next to the computer] [looks across the room at another huge bookshelf] [thinks of two bookshelves in the room across the hall]

Wow. My parents don't have a lot of time to read, really, so it's mainly my books in the house.

......we have eight 8-foot bookshelves in our house, plus four 7-foot bookshelves, plus two or three four-foot ones, plus mine, plus my sisters'. We like books in my family--all of the bookshelves are full.

My parents don't have a lot of time to read - my mother doesn't read much and my father mainly listens to audio books borrowed from the library but that doesn't stop them from owning a lot of books. We recently got a new bookshelf and put up more shelves ... and I think they're still books in silly places (like boxes in the roof.)
Aerandir - I'm jealous of your bookshelves. I have a bookshelf crisis.

Lol, Herenya. I'm still working on my personal collection of books, but my parents have a very sizeable one.

But are they your personal bookshelves? See, I only have one personal bookshelf, and it's full. I love it. I want several more (full) bookshelves, but for now, one is okay.
