I don't mind Orli, I think it would be cute for him to have a cameo if PJ makes the Hobbit into a movie.
yeah i agree. it would be cool if he was there!! he was one of my favorite charcters in lotr. i think he might've been present, but not mentioned.

I think you're right, Lady of Taniquetil. Legolas may have been alive in the time that The Hobbit took place, although he may not have played a major part in the book.

As long as he wasn't turned into a major character, that'd be fine.

I think you are both thinking somewhat the same thing, Lady of Taniquetil and Shadowcat. What if Legolas was in a flashback that took place in The Hobbit ???

I doubt they would make The Hobbit without putting Legolas in there. I hope not, anyways, even if he's just a supporting character. He'd be awesome.

What makes you think that, Aerandir?

He's popular enough with fans (who most likely know that he is the Prince of Mirkwood) that it would seem really weird if he wasn't in there. They'd have to come up with some explanation that he's someplace else or something.

One question: are they even filming The Hobbit? I thought that it was supposed to come out in 2006..then the discussion of it kind of..just died.

That's a good question, Gladiator. I don't know for sure . I've heard some say yes, and others, no.

Says Greg Wright::
Quote: The added bonus? Added roles for Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, Liv Tyler as Arwen, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, and Orlando Bloom as Legolas — maybe even John Rhys-Davies as Gimli. All of these characters were alive during the period of The Hobbit, and were certainly active during the period between the two tales. Heck, we might even get a major role for Craig Parker again as Haldir, which would make his subsequent death in The Two Towers all that more poignant.

Oooh, thanks Haldir. I don't go to TOR all that frequently, so I hadn't read that before.
I was thinking about Legolas in the Hobbit the other day, and I had a funny train of thought. I was thinking that if he was in the movie, they would probably give him a cool stunt. Then I was thinking, 'well, what would he do it on/off of?' and I thought of Beorn. I imagined Legolas riding around[standing] on Beorn (while Beorn is in bear form) shooting Goblins. Then the thought continued--what if Mirkwood's entire army was trained like Legolas? The battlefield took on a very hectic look in my mind--dozens of elves hanging off of Beorn shooting goblins, or jumping from rock to rock pulling all sorts of crazy stunts. I practically died laughing.

I think it would be okay, as long as he wasn't made into a main character. Just have him as a minor person, who you maybe see in Thranduil's palace, and at the battle.

Yeah. I guess the easiest way to state my point would be to describe Legolas' [hopeful] role in The Hobbit as a cameo. Just an appearance, to satisfy all the fangirls, and then people like me, who would want an explanation as to why he wasn't there. They need to have one if they don't show him.
