Lady of Taniquetil wrote: Oh i love UT!!! i'm almost done with it. I got it for christmas. i just read the part about the quest for the Ring about the ringwraiths. i love that part! the story about Tuor going to Gondolin was amazing but the story about Aldarion and Erendis was quite annoying. like they got married, but then they were apart and, u know. i didn't like that story very much. but i love the book!!!!
Lol--the story of Aldarion and Erendis seems to be like the least popular in the book.

I actually really like it. I didn't like it when I first read it though. I had no understanding for Aldarion at all and thought he was just stupid.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too, but I was simply saying that the general consensus seems to be that it wasn't that great. I liked that story.

yeah I've already heard of quite a few people who didn't particularly like it.. Doesn't seem to be the people's fav story.

But of course, it's still not as good as "The Disaster of the Gladden Fields," or "Of the Istari." Those two were my favorites.

Yeah I really enjoyed the Desaster of the Gladden Fields which was actually one of my favourites. I also enjoyed the story about Gandalf, Saruman, the Shire and pipe-weed, but I guess my fav is the Narn.

Another Narn lover. I did like that version more than what was in The Silmarillion, but I still don't like it as much as most of the other ones.

Well yeah I like the Narn version in the UT better than the one in the Sil. It's not really my fav story in the Sil - there are many stories which I like equally, but I must say that the Narn fascinates me.

It's interesting, but I've never found it fascinating. I honestly like Mablung the best of the characters in that story.

I like Beleg and Mablung a lot - both of them. But I can identify very well with Túrin as well as with Nienor (not that I ever killed on of my friends or something).

Right. Everything just seems to go wrong for you, or something like that?
I don't think I can really identify with any of the characters in The Silmarillion or The Unfinished Tales--they're all really different from how I am, or at least how I view myself.

No, it's not like everything seems to go wrong for me. It's not that I totally feel like Túrin or something.
