I love Narnia, both the LWW movie and the books! To chose my favourite book would be tough; I guess it's between The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I think that I would have to say that the Silver Chair is the Narnia book that I like best.

Oopsie. I'm afraid that *whispers* I've never been able to make it through SC.

I don't know why. It just didn't draw me in like the others, I suppose. I really should read it all.

I LOVE the BBC version of The Silver Chair (and the book too, of course). Puddleglum is simply brilliant, he's got to be one of my favorite characters.

I thought that the BBC version of The Silver Chair had been an excellent version of the book. This film made me interested in the book to begin with. The actors and actresses did very good work in portraying their characters. I too think that Puddleglum is a brilliant character and he is one of the characters that I like best as well.

I think the last battle is best. tLtWatW is next. I especially like Lewis' imagination of heaven. I hope he's right :)
And though I'm German I read it in English because the German version is horrible. Especially the names. *shudder*

I have three top favorites: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader because you get to learn about places outside of Narnia; The Silver Chair because i love Puddleglum, he is just so funny, marshwuggles are the best!; and The Last Battle because i am in love with King Tirian and the whole story is just so heart breaking that is makes me cry.
I didn't care for the movie at all, it just didn't seem as magical so it became boring.

Tie between The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian for me I think. The Magician's Nephew is cool too though.

Ok, so I re-read all the Narnia book this week. I think it's only the second time I've read the series, and the first time I didn't really understand all of it.

I'm not sure which is my favourite. I really like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and in a way it's the ultimate Narnia story as there is clearly a villain. (Whereas some of the others are almost minor threats in comparison). You can sort of tell with TLTWTW that is was originally a stand alone story, and maybe that's what makes it my favourite, I don't know.

But anyway, I was on Wiki last night, and I was outraged (literally) to find people accusing Lewis of being sexist and racist. J.K Rowling and Phillip Pullman stuck their oars in and she was saying basically, just because Susan found lipstick and nylons and boys, it's sexist that she was excluded from Narnia because of this.

Well duh to you, Miss Rowling. The passage where we hear about Susan is told to the reader and Prince Trinian by the children - therefore it was in their own words as to why Susan was no longer a friend of Narnia. The whole point being it had nothing to do with Susan growing up (they were all growing up anyway) but the fact she no longer believed in Narnia. In the Horse and His Boy, there were loads of Kings who wanted to marry the grown up Susan, so how can Lewis have a problem with her growing up in our world?

And then Pullman went on to say about how boys were better than girls and light coloured people were better than dark coloured people. 0.o

The age when Narnia was set, there were Knight and Castle and Courts and fair maidens and damsels. In those times, the age of chivalry did not permit females to go straight to the frontline in battle like men. But even so, were Susan and Jill not plunged into as many scraps with bow and arrow and the men were with swords? And was it not because of Lucy's courage in sticking up for her beliefs that in many cases caused the right thing to be done? How on earth can they say that in Narnia boys are better than girls? If anything the girls contribute more to the thinking department than the boys. And Lucy, to me is the real hero of Narnia because her character is frankly, just amazing but her belief and wonder in everything is just.. perfect.

And grr. The racist thing. Oh, noes so there is a race of people who are not light skinned and they are depicted as the sometime enemy of Narnia! *gasp* Yes, of course this book was written last week and had a politically motivated message in it. *nods* The people who complain and racism in Narnia, probably also complain about the way Fagin is potrayed in Oliver Twist. The time when Narnia was written should be taken in to account when people complain about racism. It was just what happened at that time, and even I don't think it's racist. There were a few good people from Calormen, and if they are so EVIL than why was their land in the true Narnia at the end of the series? If they were so much lesser than fair skinned men, why did Aslan not smote them from the earth?

I hate it when people read into things like books and films. Why they try and pervert something that is innocent and good. Why do people have to find bad things everywhere?
