Haha I know... his clothes did not really suit the time that the story was set in. And he acts like one too... smug and snobbish with an I-am-better-than-everyone-else attitude.

Someone was talking about Eragon and Aragorn, and i have to add, Aragorn was hot, Eragon was not. Aragorn knew what he was doing, Ergaon did not. Aragorn had period clothing, Eragon did not. Aragorn was of very royal decent, and his parents were good. Eragon was of royalish decent, but his father was bad and his mother was good. Aragorn had no siblings, Eragon did, a half brother, named Murtagh who wears studded pants and looks like a stereotypical biker guy in a bar. Aragorn eventually came to power, and Eragon..well, we'll have to find out. Aragorn fell in love with a power Elven woman of royal descent, so did Eragon. Aragorns fell in love with Arwen, who had decent ears. Eragon fell in love with Arya who had normal human ears(in the movies at least).
There, that was fun..

hey, if you want a movie to be as authentic as possible, to make it look real, what people wear is a big part of it, if you put all the characters in jeans and a t-shirt, then viewers are going to think "wow, this is stupid, their not even dressed to be running around, riding dragons. The costumers are pretty stupid."

What? He looked like a biker who hangs around in bars. For a story about a biker, that's great. Wonderful. As far as I know, though, Eragon did not take place in a bar. And Murtagh was not a biker.

Well, perhaps not all of us agree with you on that point.

I agree with Shadowcat
They could have done more work on Murtagh to make him look more convincing. The clothing could not have been that hard. It's called "Historical clothing research".
And Shy, I think it IS because you like the movie... you are defending every little point about it.. but that's normal.
The movie/book is not perfect. At all. You act like it has no flaws whatsoever, that it is the best movie ever filmed (best book ever written), the most original and well thought up tale, with nothing to dislike about it... but face it, it is not.

Yeah er... please do not call us stupid because we have opinions that differ from your own.

its not the best movie. its not the best book. I just hate it when ppl criticize an author of a good fantasy book. good books IMO. so I defend it.
not calling u stupid. just general ppl who act like that.

We are the general people who act like that. And in your quote, you were referring to Shadowcat. You quoted her (indirectly... you made it sound stupider), so who else could you be calling stupid, may I ask?
And the books and movies that you dislike or criticize (there must be at least one book or movie that you think is rubbish), well... other people may like them as well and think it is gold. Just like your opinion about Eragon.
We can criticize what we like... it's not like we're saying "omg, liek eragon is such a stupid movie... aragornss so much sexier than that ugli name steeler." We have actual reasons for disliking Eragon, which I think ought to be thought as reasonable, even by fans of it. *shrug*
I do not mind when people dislike Tolkien for real reasons. I actually respect and agree with them, though Tolkien's works are my bible.

If anyone ever starts a thread against something that I like, I'm not going to call them stupid for having an opinion, even if I disagree. I think that it's probably good for people to disagree. I'd love to defend something that I think is good. However, if I thought for some reason that I would get mad at the people who had their own opinions, I wouldn't post unless it was actually a constructive argument against what they said, instead of just saying that they were "stupid" or anything like that.
And as for the pants... you don't exactly see Aragorn or Boromir or anyone in LotR wandering around in biker pants, do you? In fact, I can't think of a single fantasy [not SciFi, fantasy] story where people are described or shown as wearing biker pants.
I personally disliked the book. CP is not a talented author. I write better than he does. If you want a sample of my writing, I'll post it in the Fanfiction section. I happen to have something that CP does not have. It's called an imagination. I have a certain story that I'm working on that has *le gasp* original characters.
Because I didn't like the book, I didn't even bother to see the movie. However, I have seen screencaps and the trailer, so don't start criticizing me for that. The glimpses I saw of battle scenes seemed unrealisitic and the thing that bothered me was that, Saphira wasn't supposed to know how to breathe fire, and Voila! in the movie trailer she can.
And the Shade? He looked like he fell in a vat of cranberry juice.
