Elenriel rode silently with the company, her mind drifting back to her last private conversation with the king before they departed.

“You were always strong-willed. A woman guided by her heart than her head. But you are now a princess of Mirkwood, not a mere shield maiden. Curb your spirit less you bring disaster on us all.” he had told her. She remembered how she winced at his words, knowing they were true. However, he surprised her with his next remarks. “Yet, despite all, my son could not have chosen a better wife. And though I have never said so, I am proud to call you daughter.” he had said looking sorrowfully at her.

"What is it?"

"You and your friends were right, Elenriel. This will be the end of the both the people and the mountain and Mirkwood. I should have sent aid as the shadow descended. Now death has come."

"No, my king. We shall stop this shadow!" she had gasped in horror, more from fear at his words than the impending danger.

"And at what cost?" he had questioned. "You know not what you face."

"And did the Fellowship know all the dangers that would come to pass when they undertook the task to save all of Middle-earth?"

The king slowly nodded. "Go now, and take care princess. I shall send word to thy husband and my son. If the Valar willing he and his company will aid you on this quest." Although privately, the king had doubts that the prince would be able to aid them in time. "May the blessings of all that is good go with you and your friends."

Elenriel snapped out of her reverie as she turned to gaze up at the darkening mountain. So we come to it now. she thought quietly. Our final test.

The company drew near to the Lonely Mountain. Suddenly Airemelero stopped and turned towards his companions.
"We come now to the realm of Dale and the Lonely Mountain. Be wary! We neither know the threat that has befallen these lands nor do we know the number of enemies. We must not be seen unless it cannot be helped. From now on we will abandon the horses and continue on foot."

Raelyn got off her horse. she huged it's neck and sent it on it's way. " you know the way home" she said quietly to the horse. the horse trotted back the way they came. Raelyn regained herself and looked twards the mountain.

Elenriel swiftly dismounted her mare, gently stroking her neck. "You have been a loyal companion. Return now to the safety of the kingdom." she whispered softly. The mare looked at the princess with her large brown eyes before snorting a response and heading in the direction of Mirkwood. Elenriel then turned her gaze toward the mountain. "What is your plan of action?" she asked her eyes resting intently on Airemelero.

(By the way would Elenriel know Airemelero's name since she never got his name on the introduction, or should I pretend that she heard his name in passing at this stage in the rp?)
