"Ugh!" Ace rolled her eyes, and cringed. She sank down to a sitting position, her back against the wall, and slumped with her head in her hands. It was throbbing, and had a huge bump forming on it. She was still trying to clear stars out of her vision when she heard footsteps comming up, but they were not Shonnalen's. She didn't bother to look up. "What?" Her voice was quieter and resigned now.

Brendon walked over to the elevator, "You ok?" he asked as she slid to a sitting position oposite her. "Can I get you anything?" He asked watching the way she held her head.

"I'm fine." Her voice was flat, and she was trying to keep her eyes from wattering, thanks to the smarting lump on her head. "No, thank you. Your sister went to get some ice, laughing the whole time." She refused to look up at him, for fear that what she was thinking could be read across her face. Her jacket had been un-zipped for some time now, and the shoulder was slipping down to reveal the tip of an old scar next to a newer scar. She pulled the jacket back up.

Shonnalen stepped around the corner in time to see her jacket slip dwon and she caught a glimps of the two scars on her upper arm. "Here's your ice." She said handing ace a small pack of ice wrapped in an old hand towel.

Ace took the pack with out looking up or removing her head from in her arms on her knees. "Thanks." She sat there for a few minutes, the looked up, now that she'd achieved masking her face again. "Can I see if the lift works now with out getting scared out of my skin?" She had a slight smile on her face, though it was a tired one.

Shonnalen smiled and said, "Sure ... I wouldn't mind seeing if it works myself, but I doubt I'll ever use it.

Brendon didn't move he just sat where he was. "Test away..." He said looking over at Ace.

Ace took a deep breath and hopped into the elevator. With out putting the pannel back on, she pressed the close door button. After a moment of whirring, it closed! "Yes!" she shouted through the closed door. "It works!" Then there was a moment of silence. "Umm.. guys... it's not opening...."

Shonnalen started laughing. "Ok Ace you're the tecnition... you got yourself in ... now get yourself out. I'll have cold glasses of water wating when you get done."

Brendon's face went pail and he closed his eyes. "Please don't tell me we're stuck in here..." He wispered.

"Gee, thanks a lot.." She looked over at Brendon with concern. "Are you claustrophobic? And we're not stuck in here. If worse comes to worse, we can climb out the top and up the cable to the next floor."

Brendon nodded. "it didn't bother me till the door didn't open again." He said. Sweat beeded on his forehead and he hugged his kneese trying not to think about where he was.

Ace sighed and pulled something out of her pocket. "Drink a swallow of this. Not too much, just a swallow. Sit tight for a few minutes and let me play around with this wiring... the doors aren't opening because of a short in the wiring.. the short happened when the motion of the doors hit it. I've just got to find it and fix it, then we're back in business. Don't look so glum... I got this thing running again, I can surly get the doors back open!" She spoke in a calm, reasureing voice and began to work on the wiring again. She tried to keep him talking. "So... tell me about yourself. We might as well chat if we're going to be in here for a while. Silence is unbearable." She laughed.

Brendon did as she instructed then quickly shut his eyes again. "What do you want to know?" He asked leaning his head back agains the wall.

Ace zapped herself again. "Ouch! I don't know... just talk... I don't want you hyperventlating on me. If this door would re open at a slight push, you'd be fine, right? So try not to worry about it. And when that stuff hits your system, you'll be fine completely."

Brendon forced himself to breath normally then said, "My name is Brendon, I'm 18... I have a girlfriends her name is Trudy... I have lived in this mall since I was 12... Shonnalen has been my soul previder since I was 7." He felt himself starting to relax. "Ok you know about me ...now how aobut you?" he asked still keeping his eyes closed.

Well, that was information she already knew, but at least he was talking. She wasn't, however, expecting him to turn the tables on her. Her goal was to get him talking, not her. "I.. ummm... am.. 18... been alone since I was 12... there's not really much to tell about me." She ended quickly.

Brendon crossed his rms over his chest and for a few moments the only sound was of Ace fiddleing with the wires and his ragged breathing. "There's got to be more to you then just that." He said finaly breaking the silence.
