Now, I know that we all love LotR insanely, but do you think that it's possible to be too obsessed with it? Has it interfered with or hindered important areas in your life, like the social arena or work? But where do you think the line is? Are you crossing it?

Me, I think that while LotR is a very great and wonderful thing, if it's taking the spotlight from what's really important in life than it can be a problem.

Oh yes! I think the same way you do. However, if I think it is becoming too important, I leave for a little while..

I was a little too obsessed in 6th grade. But now I'm a little less openly obsessed, and personally, I think this year is funner.

Yeah, I think there are some people who are too obsessed, when LotR takes up about 20% of their time each day.

Well, I can't actually imagine being too obsessed, because I can't imagine that you could neglect the important things like school/work and family and so on because of LotR. I always find LotR and A-U really helpful for my everyday life, because LotR gives me strength and hope. So yeah, I spend a lot of time thinking about it, but I can still do my jobs.

I was really obsessed in 6th grade and all my friends got mad at me. I was know as 'the one who likes that weird movie way to much.' It died down a little once I hit 7th grade, but I still love it a whole lot!!!

I agree with you Firiel, LotR can really give you strength and hope.

i don't think I'm too obsessed with anything, but reading in general would have to be it if anything was. I spend more time reading than doing homework, but I get good grades anyway. I work fast and read faster! Unfortunately, my parents can't fathom that and they get on me all the time :(

I'm not obsessed, although I have heard of people who are, who buy every LOTR trinket, gets all the movies, and can't stop talking about LOTR or Tolkien. Fortunately, I'm on 1% obsessed. :-D

I second that! :-D

I'm pretty obsessed. I must confess my grades would have been higher if I wasn't. But do I care is the question! The answer is that I don't. If I'd live a boring life with good grades but nothing to be passionate about, then I don't think I'd be very happy.

I uses to be really really obsessed in 8th grade. It was all I thought about and talked about and people knew me as the girl who loved lotr and elijah haha. Now im not as obsessed, but I still love lotr no matter what. I just dont let it take up as much as my life :P Also the fact that I have been trying to concentrate on school, so I havent been able to come on here. But now that I am back, I will become more obsessed again. Muahah!

My obsession spiked way up last summer when I read the Silmarillion, but most of the time I'm just comfortably obsessed: I love it, I know I will always love it, and I think about it sometimes, but not so much that it takes over.
My friends might get half-jokingly annoyed with me when I show off my superior knowledge of all things Tolkien, but I just take it as part of their general joking glares at me for being smart.
