My mother always says Saruman and Sauron wrong.
I was talking about Frodo, and my one friend came up, gave us a funny look, and asked if Frodo was one of the flying funny things(meaning Nazgul).

My mother cannot, for the life of her, remember Galadriel's name. She's now become "the blonde Elf queen lady" or something to that effect.
And once my friend (who sorta likes LOTR) watched all three EE's basically in a row with me, and gave most of the characters funny/stupid nicknames. Sam was "Fat Hobbit", Gandalf was "Old G** Man" (I made the mistake of telling her Sir Ian's sexual orientation ), Aragorn was "Schnicklefritz", Theoden was "Old Senile Man" and Denethor was "Flaming Daddy." And at about four in the morning she was super close to falling asleep so she started yelling at Frodo "Just DIE already!"
Haha, it was fun for me anyway.

Well, my three-year-old brother (who we have absolutly brainwashed since birth. Honestly, we called him the "Yellow Hobbit" because he was small, and always wore a yellow sleeper, like a month after he was born! ) loves LOTR and Legolas.
We were in our van and he goes, "Legolas is the best right?".
And my sister says, "No, Pippin is".
Then my brother starting screaming, "Legolas is the best!!!"
And he wouldn't stop until everyone said they agreed with him.
I found that very funny.
The, he found a gold key and told me, "It's the one key to rule them all!"
(My Mom says he isn't allowed to watch LOTR anymore because of the violence, [which I can understand] but my brother is still very affected by it. I have done my work well. *Pats self on the back* )
-------------------------------------------------------------
When my frind say the "Leave now and never come back scene" in TTT, she really didn't get it. She asked me if Gollum had doubled himself!

Aww, the "Yellow Hobbit"! That sounds adorable! I also like the One Key to rule them all. You have done your work well, Tolkien would be pleased.

My sister and I once referred back to Frodo's line in FotR where he says that he would hide the ring. So, we asked ourselves where a good place would be to hide it.
She said: On top of the witchking's helmet. (Like implanted in)
Then I said: "A foot in front of Sauron's eye. Just think, no servant would ever be able to get to it because it is too hot, and Sauron would never be able to reach it. Then, the added bonus, we could torture Sauron with the fact that he knows where the ring is, but he can't get it."

^Nice! IN Sauron's eye, I love it!
My friend Eli bought a Legolas poster for his sister and he thought it was Aragorn. I'm trying to convince him to watch the movies with me and actually pay attention to the characters' names.

One of my friends who hates LOTR, asked what happened to Gimpy and I asked her if she was talking about the swarf, and she said "No, the ugly elf guy, Gimpy."

Let's see, for my sister the names are as follows:
Legolas="elf guy"
Aragorn="That hot guy"
Boromir and Faramir are interchangeable. So are Gandalf and Saruman, or Saruman and Sauron. And Merry and Pippin. And in TTT, she always thinks Frodo and Sam are in a forest whenever there is a Merry/Pippin scene.
Arwen="that elf lady"
Eowyn="the other girl"
Theoden="the king"
Gandalf="the wizard"
Nazgul="weird creepy guys"
Gimli="the funny guy"
Elrond="the elf lady's dad"
Galadriel="weird elf lady"
Anyone else..."you know, that one guy..."

It may interest you to know, however, that although my one brother got an adorable hobbit name, my other 5 month old brother has been called, not by me, I assure you (though I may have laughed at the name ), "The Nazgul". Honestly, when he screams he sounds just like one. If I could figure out how, I'd record it and post it here. ?But I am completly ignorant when it comes it things like that! ~RinielAranel~ wrote: Let's see, for my sister the names are as follows: Legolas="elf guy" Aragorn="That hot guy" Boromir and Faramir are interchangeable. That's great, Rin. (Do you mind if I call you that? Everyone else does... It's just a lot easier! )
My dad calls Theoden "The dead king of the horse land" and Denethor "that mad king who burned himself"!

My dad called Legolas "Legoman" and he always refers to the part of your hair up and pair down as the "Legoman hairstyle"

Gimpy,Legoman oh god u guys r killing me.
my brother never really uses names for anyone in LotR,except Smeagol who is his fave character.its quite hilarious sometimes to figure out who hes talking about.Legolas is 'the elf',Gimli is 'the dwarf' and Gandalf is 'the wizard' which isnt too bad but Arwen is usually 'Willis's daughter'(refering to Armageddon),Wormtounge is known as 'Chucky' or 'Charles'(because Brad Dourif voiced Chucky in Childs Play),Aragorn,Theoden and Denethor are all known as 'the king guy',Boromir is 'the guy who died'(took me a while to figure that one out) and everyone else is 'old mate' or 'that guy'(or girl).

^LOL your mum's funny
Nearly everyone thinks that the Winged Creatures are dragons... even some of my friends who have read tLotR, the Hobbit, and the Silmarillion... shouldn't they realize that the Winged Creatures are nothing like Smaug?
Last summer, I was at summer school with a bunch of other students, and we were watching RotK when the teacher was giving us mock-job interviews individually. Well, everyone was like "what are those"? And this girl replied in a matter-of-factly way "those are the dragons"... "and THOSE are the ogres" (about the olog-hai). I just gave her such an ugly look and said loudly. "No, girly... those are Winged Creatures and olog-hai. If you don't know, just say so... don't blab out random and false facts when you have a Tolkienite sitting next to you."
Well, I guess that's not funny... it's just annoying.
I don't have any funny stories to share.... yet.

Yes, Saruman / Sauron,
for some reason, they seem to create confusion,
and like Ánië Surion..
I had a friend who bought the poster for RotK, as a gift, thinking that it was Frodo! - I mean, seriously??
