I think it would be interesting to have a discussion about who you prefer; Boromir or Faramir, and why you prefer him.
Personally, I prefer Faramir because he was stronger mentally (afterall, he resisted the temptation of the Ring) and he wasn't as proud as his brother. He also wasn't as war-like as Boromir, though no one can say that he wasn't brave.
What do you think?

Faramir; he really struck something deep with me. I don't know why, though. But I agree with what you said about him.

Faramir. Because of this quote: "'...I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend: the city of the men of Númenor; and I would have loved for her memory, her ancientry, her beauty, and her present wisdom. Not feared, save as men may fear the dignity of a man, old and wise'" (The Two Towers, p 656). I also appreciate that he enjoys books and learning and that he was strong enough to resist the Ring.

Faramir: He's noble and proud, but not to a fault, he's smart and wise beyond his years, he knows when to stop and how to help his city in the best way possible. He does it all ofr Minas Tirith, and he follows his fathers directions, even wehn he knows he would probably die, plus, David Wenham is a cutie.

Personaly I would have to choose Faramir. I liked him better than Boromir because he was stronger and in many ways smarter than Boromir. He loved his father and his brother but did see their flaws. He was willing to die for his country and for his family. He was selfless and brave. The list just goes on and on... Also I feel like I have alot in common with Faramir and can understand him more easliy than I can Boromir. So yeah in short I coose Faramir.

Aww, poor Bori. Almost makes me wish I'd voted for him, even though I don't like him that much...

Faramir: Well, I'm not just following bandwagon. I've always like faramir better, because Boromir is greedy, and well... boromir was always the one liked by their father and everything, and faramir was kind of alone. That's kind of my own opinion.
Also, I've always liked rangers and stuff, so.. lol, not a really good reason, but.. That's mine.

I'm with everybody else, and say Faramir. (Though if we go only by the movies, it'd be Boromir. No one beats Sean Bean. ) But Faramir was smart, courageous, and a warrior in his own right. I too love that quote, Ánië Súrion. And you have to feel sorry for Faramir, defending his city and risking his life while his father detested him.

I have to say Faramir. I found him, as TheThain said, "Stronger mentally".
Boromir did seem proud, and he could not resist the Ring.

I love both of them to death, but as others have stated, I prefer Faramir. At the risk of sounding obvious, he is a wiser and stronger man than Boromir who had more understanding and made good decisions. I know he's one of the characters in LotR I could trust with my life.

Wow. I feel bad for Boromir.

Well, there are a few other threads that point out the good qualities in Boromir ( "A Defense of the Character Boromir", for instance). I like Boromir too. It was soo sad when he died. But I just like Faramir beter, for all the reasons stated.
Ánië Súrion, I love that quote too. You don't hear Boromir saying anything like that!

I do not think it is possible to compare Boromir and Faramir. They are two very different people, yet alike in that they want to what is right for their country.
They both succeeded, though in different ways, and they were both very courageous and strong, though they acted on their strength and courage in different ways.
The only way you can say one is superior to the other is that Faramir resisted the ring, Boromir did not. But their situations were different, so we can't judge him. Faramir never saw the ring, despite that scene in the movie in which he loops his sword through it. (It's not as if Frodo would wear it outside his clothes like that where anyone can see it and take it.)
So I really like both of them; and I think it's really sweet how they love each other so much even though their father doesn't love them equally.

I agree with you. I couldn't decide between Boromir and Faramir. I like them both and I can indentify with both of them (at least partly). But yeah, I agree with what you already said. That's what I think as well.

Faramir completely. Why? Well this is kind of swooning but i think that he is totally cuter than boromir. Not to mention that Boromir is not as nice as he is but i guess i can understand considering he's older and has more resposibility than Faramir. Plus Borormir is loved by Denethor and Faramir is not which also makes me like Faramir better.
