("I'm sorry, Frodo. I was delayed." )
The king and Airemelero went to his chamber and talked a long time together. They discussed what was to do next.
At length they came out again. They had decided to send a message to the elven army and to attack the host of orcs from two sides as soon as both sides were ready. But at first a willing messenger had to be found.

Elenriel nodded in response to Tulmind and then turned her attention to the King and Airemelero as they reentered the hall. "I will take the message to my kin." she replied firmly.

"It is decided then", the king said. "You must depart now without further delay or we will not surprise the orcs. Be swift and wary! And may the blessings of the free peoples of Middle-Earth protect you."

Elenriel nodded. "I shall not fail you." she said with a bow. Bidding the rest of the group farewell, she quickly exited the hall and trod along the same path from the mountain as they had come. Moving as swiftly and silently as she could, she crept along the path, constantly vigilant of orc attacks. I can not let them down, she thought as she hurriedly made her way along the road. Finally reaching the flat ground, she whistled for her mare, relief filling her as the animal thundered up to her. "Come. Mirkwood must now act. Let us bring word to the King." she whispered as she mounted the beast and urged her toward the border.

Tulmind pulled down his bow and said,"I will lead the group to free Prince Brand. The tunnel he is trapped in is close to the southern exit. If we free him then we can exit and jion with Elenriel." Tulmind flashed his mischievous smile as he fitted the last piece into the his puzzle,"And then with Thorin's company in the mountain you will be in the front... and we will be in the back."

"Well then. We place our hope in the swiftness of our messenger. We will distract the orcs and if the Elves arrive in time, we will smite them between hammer and anvil."

Elenriel swiftly crossed the border, urging her beloved mare onward. She knew the land well and as a shieldmaiden knew well the dangers of the woods. She could hear the scurrying of orcs somewhere behind her and knew that a small group trailed her. By Eru, not now. she prayed. I have no time to delay. Suddenly a screech resounded through the woods and a black-tipped arrow whizzed from behind her, just missing her shoulder. "Noro lim, Turtegiel , noro lim!" she cried as she felt the shadows close in about them. Evading another arrow and twisting around a bend, she scratched her cheek on a low-hanging branch, yet ignored the sting from the cut. Suddenly an arrow whizzed past her ear striking down one that pursued her. "Sadron!" Elenriel cried as she recognized the familiar form of the captain riding up to her.
"My lady-" he replied but she quickly cut him off.
"Ready the warriors. We ride to war!" she commanded. "I shall give word to the King."
Sadron nodded. "We shall cover you." he replied, signaling to more of their guard. "And await the King's instruction." he added.
Elenriel nodded as she rode past and headed for the palace.

Meanwhile the dwarves prepared for battle. All their troops were mustered and the company refreshed themselves as best as they could.
When they were ready they set out and headed to the great gate that had been set up to keep the orcs out. In was quiet on the other side. They opened the gate and found the great hall deserted.
"Be wary. I suspect a trap.", Airemelero said.

Elenriel raced to the palace and quickly dismounted upon her arrival. Setting her mare free for a rest, she rushed to the throne room. The guards stepped back as they caught sight of her, allowing the she-elf to pass unhindered.
"My king-" Elenriel cried as she kneeled before Thranduil, her raven hair falling loosely about her face. She paused a moment to catch her breath and while the King studied her bedraggled appearance silently, choosing to make no comment.
"What is it, daughter?" he asked finally.
Elenriel looked up and as their eyes locked together, no words needed to be exchanged. She could read the look in her father-in-law's eyes. The time had come for Mirkwood to uphold her word to the dwarves.
Thranduil nodded in silent acknowledgement. "We shall make haste to the mountain. I shall ready the troops at once." As he spoke the words, Sadron and his company quickly entered the palace, bowing before the King. "Ready the men. We ride in all haste to Erebor" he commanded the captain. Sadron bowed and took his leave.
Elenriel nodded and bowed again and quickly stood to follow the warriors.
"Elenriel-wait!" he commanded. "You have done your duty. Wait now in the palace."
Elenriel shook her head. "I traveled up the mountain. I must go with the men. My duty is not finished until this evil is destroyed."
The King sighed. "Then go with the blessing of the woods." he said finally. "The Prince has received my message. He and his company will join the army if time is willing."
Elenriel nodded. "Time is against us. We must now depart." With that she bowed once more before taking her leave.

Raelyn pulled out her sword quietly. she glanced at Tulmind and then at Airmelero. she sighed softly and waited.

Airemelero guarded the left flank as the army marched on. Only the dwarves' heavy breathing could be heard. The hall widened as they marched on.
Suddenly a yell came from somewhere. Steel upon steel. Whistling arrows. Ere they knew what happened they were surrounded by orcs.
"They must have lain hidden in the shadows as we passed by and thus they were able to get into our back."
The dwarves were outnumbered but they were already fighting fiercely and their mail and weapons had no match in Middle-Earth save the Elven armour from the Elder days.

Raelyn ran to the back of the dwarves among the hardest and the fericest of the fighting. she swung her sword at her attackers and slayed a little less then most of them. she looked around for the others for back up if needed.
she kept fighting and kept going for it seemed like hours. thousands of orcs kept pouring down on them.
they were running out of people. they had to think fast.

(CRAP!!!! I can't believe I forgot about this!!!! AHHH!! Time to save Prince Brand.)
Tulmind and his troupe of archers had just headed down the hall when they heard behind them the clash of metal. Tulmind looked back to hall... he wanted so bad to turn around, save Amerilo and Raelyn... but that was time he nor Prince Brand could spare. So with a lump in his throat and a fire in eyes he turned and coninued walk down the hall... and slowly, the archers turned and followed.
------------------------------------------------------
Tulmind's troupe was just about to turn a corner when a single orc guard reveled itself from behind a pillar. Before it could even utter a cry of warning Tulmind's bow sung and his arrow found the orc's throat. Waving his group to hug the wall he slowly crept forward. Creeping up to from pillar to pillar Tulmind got a good view of the orc party that was trapping the prince... too much. It was all together huge. He couldn't help but wonder how it would be possible for Brand to survive... but then he remebered the old times with him, he was alive, he had to be. Returning to the archers the captain waited eagerly,"So how does it look?" Tulmind only locked his jaw and his lavender stare with the captain's telling him all he needed to know. "We can only take them out if Brand's force is united with our own. But..." he said flashing his smile once again," I have a plan."
---------------------------------------------------------
It was utterly silent in the halls of Erebor. Only the soft crackle of the orcish torches could be heard over the omounos scielnce. Little did the orcs know that behind each and every pillar was an archer of Dale waiting to put an arrow in their chest. Niether did they know that behind one of those pillars... was the one with the lavender eyes. Stepping out into the light Tulmind strung his bow... and walked strait for the orcs. Caught somewhat offgaurd the orcs wondered if he was demented, what would make him come against such a force. If they had been smarter they would have smelled a trap but instead they decided to turn it into a game and see how many arrows they could fit into the figure clad in black moving twoards them. Raising their bows they took their time aiming it up. But Tulmind crouched and fired an arrow... but the one arrow suddenly turned into 401 for out from the shadows stepped the archers that had come with Tulmind. Breaking into a sprint he ran for the entrance to the tunnel. Tulmind screamed at the guards and the already stunned orcs fell over at his cry but it was too late for them to get up as Tulmind smashed the door down.
---------------------------------------------------------
Looking up from the remains of the door Tulmind's lavender eyes found the point of an arrow aimed between them. Then roaming upwards they found brown eyes.... of Prince Brand. Tulmind was about to crack a joke but the prince lifted him off the ground and locked him in a bear hug... like they had always done scince they grew up. "You're late." Brand said smiling at Tulmind. "And I had to bail you out of trouble... again." Tulmind burst into laughter as he remebered the last time he had gotten the prince into trouble with Thorin. But he managed to pick up his bow and quiver and look Brand in the eye,"Like old times?" he questioned. "Like old times." Then with the cover of a thousand archers Tulmind and Prince Brand ran forward and locked back to back, spining while firing arrows, each trying to match the others pace. But when they ran out of arrows there were no orcs left to be shot. And Tulmind only shook his head and remarked, "Indeed... like old times."

Elenriel raced out of the palace and whistled for her mare once more, smiling lightly as the beast thundered up to her. Swiftly mounting her old friend she rode up to Sadron and the rest of the Mirkwood army. "We set off now." she remarked quietly. "I fear that our friends will not be able to hold out for long."
Sadron nodded as he signaled for the army to move out. With that the Host thundered through the woods of Mirkwood. The few orcs that remained shirked from their path, too fearful of challenging the large number. As the group neared Erebor, they set their animals free and made their way to the entrance on foot, ever vigilant of orc raids.
(Umm...how should I meet up with you guys?)

(we could both ((you and me)) sense the other army and be ready to draw bows but when we pop out we realize who it is!)
Tulmind and Prince Brand walked out of the western entrance with a smile on their faces until Tulmind remebered why he had saved the prince. "Brand! We need to hurry! We need to meet up with elves now! We must hurry!" Then with all of their speed the army of archers sprinted to meet up with Elenriel.
(alright... that was crap, lol)

(Love that idea hobo!)
Elenriel walked near the front of the army with the captains, her sapphire eyes scanning for any signs of danger. As the neared the entrance, she stiffed, sensing the presence of another group. She glanced at Sadron and he nodded, sensing the approach of another group as well. With that she and the army swiftly drew their bows and knotted an arrow to them, ready to fire should the need arise.
