My sister and I enjoy making fun of movies... even the ones we watch for the first time. So, we typically relate them to other movies a lot. I was wondering if anyone else makes fun of other movies with LotR concepts.

When I say make fun, it isn't cruel or harsh. We still respect the movie and everything, but we just have fun and get a laugh out of it.

---------------------------------------------

Last night, we were watching "The Bourne Identity" for the first time, and there is a scene with Paris and this lighthouse thing in the middle that it circling around. Instead of keeping my thought inside my head, I yelled out, "It's the Eye of Sauron!" across the room.

For Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, we sincerely enjoyed joking around about Will Turner just because Orlando played Legolas... and, in the beginning, there is the young Will Turner, and at one point in the scene, his hair covers his face so that it looks like he has pointed ears. So, with much conversation, I insisted that Will Turner was an "elf-gone-bad", EGB for short. And throughout the movie we would be like, "only an EGB would ever do that..."

Well, I've discovered that every time I see Orlando's first scene in POTC I call him "Elf Boy". Does that count? :-D

I'm sure it would... I could see me saying that also, although I will most likely stick with Elf Gone Bad. :P

I am going to watch some more movies.. and hopefully be able to add LotR comments into them.

Um, I was watching Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit last night (my family kinda made me :P) and there was a bit where the main character is holding something in his hands that is electric and has about a million volts. So he's staggering around with that thing and I'm thinking "Palantir!" :P

Um...I watched The Lion King on a really boring day and couldn't help noticing the parallels between Simba/Nala and Aragorn/Arwen.

I've found at least a rough equivalent (or several) in Avatar: the Last Airbender for just about every character in lotr, and vice versa. :P I've done the same to some extent with Harry Potter... lol

Well, when my family and I watched Narnia I noticed a lot of scenes that looked uncommonly lotr-ish, like when they all hide in this little hollow directly beneath the road like the hobbits hid from the black rider. I yelled, "They so copied off of lord of the rings!" so much that it drove them nuts and the had to tell me to be quiet. I still muttered under my breath, though.

^I noticed that too, but I got over it. :P And did you notice that Peter was looking very Aragorn-ish on that white unicorn? :teehee:

Anyway, there's a scene in Elizabethtown which always cracks me up: there's a band playing a song called "Free Bird" at a funeral, and for dramatic effect they made a paper mache bird and have it on a pulley to make it "fly" across the room. Well, there's also spotlights, and one of those ends up setting the bird on fire. Shortly after that it dives into the crowd below and they all scream and run/duck. So the first time I saw it, I said "Dragon? Nonsense! There hasn't been a dragon in these parts for a thousand years!" It's so funny - just like Bilbo's party! :D

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, yeah, Anie Surion... :teehee: Peter was holding the sword kind of weird, as I remember...and I was yelling, "Come one, just do it!" When he sort of lowered the sword in front of his face in that Aragorn way I was like, "Yes! Finally!"

 Indeed, indeed.

I was watching Spiderman last night and the way Mr. Osbourne was talking to the Green Goblin part of himself in the mirror was WAY too close to Gollum for my taste... *shudders*
