Elenriel nodded her assent. "If Airemelero agrees, so shall it be." she replied. "My men and I will hold the line until you return with more warriors." With that she turned in the direction Sadron and his troops waited. As if on cue, the commander crossed over to the princess.

"What is your command?" he asked.

"Guard the perimeter. No doubt the orcs shall return.”

With a nod, Sadorn returned to inform the Mirkwood Guard.

Raelyn looked at Airmelero. " please do not inform my father about any of this. he will know when i get fineally get home and get Tulmind safe and healed." she said. she called a horse over. " please do not protest at my leaving..." she looked at him. would you help me get him on the horse?" she asked Airmelero. once they got Tulmind on the horse, she hugged Airmelero. " thank you for watching over me. i will be safe." she assured him.

He watched Raelyn ride into the night.

"We need to gather our strength and plan the next move. We have defeated the orcs for now but still we need to look for the evil root."

Elenriel nodded. "What have you in mind?" she asked Airemelero. "No doubt the orcs shall return with greater numbers or perhaps even bring the one we seek. Yet, perhaps the creature dwells within the mountain, leading our destiny there."

Raelyn left her two friends behind. she hoped she could gather more troops as she went home. the only way Airmelero and Elenriel would kill this evil would be if she sent back troops.
she looked down at Tulmind laying across the saddle, she prayed to the Valar that he would be alright.

"It would seem prudent to retreat and wait for reinforcements but my heart tells me that we sould not wait. The enemy may come up with endless numbers of orcs if we do nothing. I say we cut off the serpent's head! Let us search for their evil hideout and destroy it."

by night fall she was almost to another town. but she decided to rest. she jumped off her horse and pulled Tulmind off , she lost her balence and fell flat on her bottom. " oof", she said when she hit the hard dirt. she stood up and drug Tulmind onto a bed roll she had set out before getting him. she hoped he wouldnt have any more damage then he did now by the time they got to Gondor. she quickly started a fire and warmed herself by it. the nights were becoming chillier. she went over to her horse and gave him a carrot out of her bag that she had. he ate it greatfully.

Elenriel nodded at Airemelero's words. "I shall gather what men I have." she replied as a grim smile traced her lips. "Let us be rid of this evil." she added, her voice resolute.

Airemelero sighed. He was spent. He wondered what had become of Raelyn and Tulmind. He hoped he did not lead the men to death and destruction. He asked himself whether it was right what he was doing.
He felt a shadow creeping over his heart.

Raelyn woke right as the sun was coming up. she wished Tulmind would wake. even just for a moment so she knew he was alright. she was scared to be honest. she got her horse ready and distroyed any evidence that they had been there just in case they were being followed. she got Tulmid on the horse with much trouble but she did it. she rode hard through the day and fineally made it to a town around noon. she went to a local shop and got food and camped outside of town, she didn't want anyone asking any questions. she set up her tent and laid Tulmind in it. she layed there with him for a while sleeping next to him. she awoke around 1 and decided to go into town to find a healer to see if they could do anything, hopefully she could trust the person too.
she walked into town and hoped no one would reconize her. she looked around for a healers house.

Elenriel nodded at Airemelero before she walked over to the Mirkwood Army.

"What is it, my lady?" Sadron asked.

Elenriel sighed heavily. "Tomorrow we set out against this evil. It could be a bloody day for us all." she said quietly, leaving the rest unspoken.

"We are ready, princess." Sadron replied. "You and Airemelero are correct in your belief." he said softly. "If peace is ever to dwell in Middle-earth again, the shadow must be stopped."

Elenriel nodded slowly. But at what cost? her eyes seemed to ask.

"There can be no freedom without sacrifice, my lady. You know this. But think of the consequences if we do nothing and this darkness is allowed to endure. The price we all will pay will be much greater, and you will have naught but regrets."

Elenriel nodded at his words. "Thank you, captain." she replied gently, a wan smile tracing her lips.

"Tell the men to get their rest. For tomorrow we will strike as the sun rises."

With that Sadron nodded and took his leave.

Airemelero couldn't sleep. He wandered around restlessly.

When the first grey light crept over the sky he al last fell into an uneasy sleep. A few hours later he woke up again. The sun was just rising and the army was made ready. They all looked exhausted and not few were bruised.

"What will become of us I wonder", he muttered under his breath.

When all was ready they set out.

Raelyn found a healer, she told him her story and made him swear not to tell a soul.

the healer looked over Tulmind with care. he rebandaged his wounds and gave him some herbs that would make him wake up. the healer turned and looked at the concerned woman. " we can only tell how bad his wounds are and if they're are more when he wakes m'lady." he handed her extra herbs to help the pain when he woke. " he should be up within hours" he said patting her sholder, that was hurt she only winced a little. the healer sighed. " let me tend to you as well child." he said as he looked down at her.
Raelyn nodded. " alright" she said she sliped her arm out of her sleeve and let him look. she had a nasty cut on her sholder, it needed stiches. the healer tended to her and was off. before he left he said, " i shall be at my house tonight if he wakes, its at the same place you found me today, now goodnight princess" he said turning to leave.

Raelyn thanked the man as he left. he sat there gazing at Tulmind, she wished he would wake now. her thoughts had turned into dreams as she lay down next to him and fell asleep.

The sky was filled with clouds. A shadow lay on the lands only in the far west a tiny bit of light broke through. Airemelero led the troops to the darkest spot he could see and hoped his senses would not betray him.

It reminded him of the weather Sauron the cursed had created and ashadow of fear stirred inside of him. What was going to happen if Sauron had returned?

They marched on for hours and the more they approached to the core of the shadow the more exhausted and weary they felt.
"The men need me", Airemelero thought "but my strength is leaving my body..."

Elenriel marched silently with her company, her eyes scanning the darkening area. Thoughts of the Dark Lord filled her mind and she angrily pushed back her doubts. Your thoughts are foolish. Sauron is gone. she told herself. But what if he had somehow managed to return-after all he did it once before. Gritting her teeth, she pushed onward with her company, feeling a weariness that she was not accustomed to. "What devilry transpires here?" she murmured to herself, sensing the weariness of the other warriors as well.
