Yep, great they are.

Now it's snowing outside and I really feel as if i lived somewhere near Caradhras. But no Hobbits here. :(

Here in Pennsylvania my school takes yearly trips to a camp in the Poconos. One of the trails there takes you from a lake surrounded by woods that resembles Nen Hithoel, to forest that looks like Ithilien near the Osgiliath sewers and the crosssroads, to Henneth Annûn-a gorge with a large waterfall and a deep pool. There are cliffs all around the pool and falls, filled with cool little nitches and caves. The forest above the is all Hemlock and very Ithilien-like.

really? the woods near where i live look like the woods and trees of Parth Galen. there were even old rock walls and random stones! it was so cool! and it's near fall. i didn't take any pics though. :( . everything around here reminds me of LotR. lol. i live right under the Appalacian mountains and they are continually misty, so i call them the "misty mini-mountains"

Honestly, I've never really looked but I don't think I will find an area around here that's LOTRish. The town I live in is a small city and the outskirts of it is pretty suburban so it would be very had to find something that is LOTR-like.

We have like... forests. Tons of forests. Even the smaller parks are huge forests. The forests near my house remind me loads of Lothlorien or Rivendell... a lot. I'll snap some photos when I can... and when the trees are golden and autumn-y. I really love Canada's forests :P

Unfortunately, we have no mountains in my city... I've never seen a real mountain before
We do have tons of ski-slopes in a next city I think, but I've never been to them and I doubt they're very LotR-ish.

Oh, you get that good autumn likeness here in New England as well. We are known of actually having the best foliage in the USA. People come from everywhere to see it. If I ever rememeber, I will take some pictures. Massachusetts has mountains, but no where near where I live. I live along the ocean and the mountain are way out west of the state, I think near the Massachusetts and New York border. I have only been that far out there once so I cannot really remember. I was only paying mind the Six Flags that was out there. And must I metion that it was I thnk over a 3 hour drive. I've gotten better views of New Hampshire's mountains when I went on a camping trip there was I was 13. Sadly I don't have pictures but I still remember it somewhat. I actually climbed Loon Mountain but it wasn't really a great mountain climbing day hense the fog around us and we couldn't see the view when we made it to the top because of it which really sucked.

Cool names :P I'd love to see some pics... I only really look at Canadian forests all the time so it'd be cool to look at other places' forests. *grin*

Okay, I've found some old pics that I took while we were up in Orillia... these are some of our uglier forests, but yeah, whatever.

And incidentally... I have a pic where I'm climbing up to do some sort of tightrope thing on a rope attached tto two 20-foot tall trees. You know in FotR when Haldir takes the Fellowship across the river on a rope? Well the Elves have the ability to just prance, arms loose, across the rope without worrying or having to hang on. But remember how Haldir attaches a second rope up higher, arm level, for them to hold on to while walking across the lower rope? Well that's exactly what we got to do after I finished climbing up the tree in the below picture... I found that extremely exciting. I kept yelling "I'm Haldir, I'm Haldir, can I let go of the rope???" The poor camp counselor thought I was addled, but my friends assured him that I was perfectly sane. :teehee:

Staring out at the pretty lake that I wasn't allowed to go in... Click!

We have loads of water in Ontario... not as much as the Maritime provinces do of course, but it's awesomely pretty. Reminds me of the Teleri and their beloved seas. :P

Well, I'll have to take some pics when the leaves have changed color. I should post some pics I've taken of the ocean but sadly, I don't have any pics of our mountains but I am sure there are pics around the net somewhere. That or I can gather maps of where the mountain range is located.

I feel a Teleri Elf living right along the ocean. :P

Denmark, is small, green and hilly. No mountains of any sort, just grass, trees (tall birches and Xmas trees)
- quite a lot like the Shire, actually :-D

i haven't gotten a chance to see a real mountain where you have to look up to see the top. the mountains here are very small. but everything still reminds me of LotR! there are hills to, very much like the Shire if it would rain a couple times! i'll have to take pics but i still haven't figured out how to post them or get them on the internet.

well, i hail from worcestershire, which was one of the areas that formed the basis from the shire, so there really is a lotr location where i live! unfortunately, i don't have any pictures though. i'll have to try and get some next time i go home (i'm away at uni at the moment).

plus, in nearby birmingham there is perrot's folly (which was supposedly the inspiration for one of the two towers), and sarehole mill (which was the inspiration for hobbiton mill).

OMG that sounds totally cool! i live by Lady of T. and my school is located infront of mountains. and when it's early in the morning when there is still mist...while she says it's the misty mountians i tink it resembles more of the mountians that seperate gondor from Mordor, with the smoke rising above the mountians! totally sweet!
