Isabel looked at Vondell, and then she turned her sigh to the approaching enemies. She noticed something new: Along the Imps, there were creatures, she never had seen before. They looked a lot like women but their body was covered with scales. On their heads they had curved horns and stand legs they had hoofs. Suddenly the strange creatures stopped. In their hands appeared fire missiles and they shot them towards the Knights.
Isabel and the other Fire Scholars raised Fire Shield around everyone.
This attack was unexpected. Only the Demon Lords where let into the secrets of the magic schools…till now.

After the first volley,Isabel felt that this wasn't ordinary magic.There was something dark within.This fire wasn't giving life and hope,it was coming from the deepest pits of the world and it's purpose was to bring death and destruction.With every missile Isabel's straight fainted.
She looked again at the army.They were coming closer.Another cloud of fire arrows was shot in the sky.

"I can't hold the shield for much longer!" said Isabel. " We have to split their troops somehow and take down the archers!Ahhh!" Third volley of fire arrows was sent from the demonic army.It seemed that the archers wanted to reduce the Knights' powers and with one single attack to slay them.

The pressure was growing.The demons needed only one volley to crush the Fire Shield.The demonic women shot their missiles once again and when they hit their target,the fire wall around the Knights was taken down.
Isabel pulled out her sword and prepared for the attack of the demons.

Seakas was ready for the cry and as the demons began to jump out of the trees at them, with one swift motion, he pulled out one of his hidden daggers, and flicked it, hitting one of the demons in the chest. Seakas pulled out his curved sword, and gripping it with two hands and steering his steed with his legs, he prepared for battle.

Anira combined her speed with her teleportation, easily invading the demons’ attacks. Drawing her bow, she quickly knotted an arrow and shot down one enemy. Without missing a beat she strung another arrow and continued to release a volley of arrows at her opponents.

Isabel spurred her horse and cut into the enemy’s troops but the woman realized to scatter the demon army wasn’t so easy. She still had straight to use one magic. Isabel concentrated and in her hand a ball of fire appeared. She threw it in the middle of the battlefield. A small explosion supervened, splitting the demons. This was Isabel’s chance to reach the archers, who were in the back aeries.

Arising among the smoke from the explosion, the Knight pulled out her sword and took down two of the demonic women

Vondell kept back and shooting arrows at the demons. He found out the best way to take down the scaled demon women was to shoot them in the mouth or eyes where the scales did cover their body. Soon his quiver on his back was empty. Vondell cursed the numbers of the demons. He didn't want to have to use the stash of arrows in his saddle bag just yet, not when they had just begun their mission.
"Get back!" He called to everyone, as dismounted, and poored water from his water skin onto the ground. With his magic he made a wall of ice the reached above the tree tops. Then with a kicking motion, it shattered into millions of sharp pieces, and flew at the demons, taking down the rest of the front line, and a few of the demon women. Vondell poored more on the ground, made another wall, which he shattered and sent the pieces of ice flying.

After the second time, Vondell started breathing hard, and sagging against his horse. It was hard work making a volley of ice shards and then making them go flying. Now only a dozen or so of the demonic women were left. Vondell decided he would wait until they got closer to start using his sword. That, or the other knights could take care of the rest...

"Good work." Anira told Vondell from where she stood. "I'll handle the rest." She already had enough of this battle. It only hindered their quest and every moment lost led them closer to ultimate defeat. Looking at the sky a crackling arose that could only be matched by her fury. Summoning two bolts of lightning, she struck down the remaining demon women, the bolts of light coursing through her adversaries bodies before they fell to the ground. Remounting her horse once again, she scanned the area to make sure that was the last the wave of their attackers.

Isabel turned to Anira and Vodell and light bowed her head:
"Excellent work, you two!” said she.
Then she jumped off her horse and walked through the battlefield. The bodies of the demons were covering the ground. Suddenly Isabel heard laugh behind her. She turned quickly, pulling out her sword.

One of the demonic women was still alive, though she was hardly wounded. Isabel came closer to her, but still holding her sword.
“Who are you? Who sent you?” asked Isabel.
“Do you believe I will tell you?” answered the creature with evil grin on its face. “Your Age is over, ours-is about to begin.”
Those were the last words of the demonic woman.

In this moment something rustled behind the bushes. The Knights turned back and saw an Imp, who was running away. Vondell shot an arrow but it was too late-the small demon had already spread its wings and flew away. The Knights looked at each other.
“I think we need to go” said Isabel.

Isabel sighed.She knew that Nienna had a good point but they couldn't change their route.

"I don't think we have much choice"said she."We must find this Seer in order to get some direction where to search the artifact."

While Isabel had been questioning the demon lady, Vondell had quickly recovered most of his arrows, and returned them to his quiver. The rest were broken or lost somewhere in the forest. He then mounted his horse.
"Then we should spend less time talking about it, and more time moving, and at a quicker pace. I advise we use deer trails instead of fighting the brush. See, just there is one heading through the forest in the direction we are headed," he pointed to the opposite side of them that the demons had come up on to them.

(A deer trail are hard to follow... I know from experience in real life hunting with my dad... lol!)

Seakas nodded and rode next to Nienna and said simply, his shaggy black hair in his eyes and his voice a little raspy as he breathed hard. "Nice job." He told her. He was impressed by her skill as he followed the others.
